"People of New Vegas"

Post » Sun Sep 12, 2010 9:45 pm

No, there's four. There's with Mr. House and against Mr. House. I stated earlier what I personally thought this boiled down too.

The last two factions would be the people of New Vegas [with House] and the people of the wasteland [against House]. Basically the people of New Vegas is the city of New Vegas itself and everyone inside, while the people of the wasteland is everyone in the Mojave wasteland (New Vegas included).

Ohh, so you think there'll be kind of a sub-conflict between people out in the wasteland and people in Vegas itself? Interesting..
Out of those two I'd go with the wasteland people, as I care more for those battlers out there and less for the people in the comforts of the big city. The New Vegas residents would more likely be snobby than the wastelanders. Then again, I'll be spending lots of time in the city and therefore don't want to be enemies of the whole place. Hehe, and vice versa.
But we don't know this for sure, right? I mean all this People of the Wasteland talk is just speculation? You're the first (and only?) person I've heard refer to this.

By the way, sorry guys. For some reason I didn't even think of the possibility that the People sided with House. I somewhat thought that they were against him, which I didn't get.

It's all just really weird since factions aren't really clear cut good or bad anymore.

Yeah, they're going with the everyone's-just-out-for-themselves angle. Instead of fairytales about good guys and bad guys.

Kind of reminds me of something ... oh yeah! Life.

I wonder if I can lead the "people of New Vegas" in a populist uprising against the bourgeoisie.
Maoist purge anyone? Death to the propertied class!

I don't want "The People of New Vegas" to be a faction. There will be the Kings right? they are within the City of Vegas. So what, they will be a faction within a faction? I can't see alot of Gangs and Casinos all working together like some big neighbourhood watch ot block association. I want New Vegas to be alot like New Reno and Redding mixed in one. For every casino and gang to be out for their own goals and have their own loyalties to other factions. Only difference between New Vegas and New Reno. Mr.House is the Kingpin the head boss of them all. Everyone else in Vegas are just paying tribute to Him, if they get the chance to take him out they would.

The Kings are located in Freeside, but its still pretty close to Vegas.

I'm sure there that'll definitely be the case. I remember in the QuakeCon previews some of the reviewers met a ghoul escort who helped out the player and told him the items the player would need to get inside New Vegas.

But yeah, what I said was just speculation. It's just what I think the last two factions will boil down to. Though it is confirmed that With and Against Mr. House are the last two factions.

I'm more intrigued by smaller factions and how they will affect bigger factions like styles says.

I would like to see a couple of tribal factions with a predicament with the CL. One tribe is for joining them, another doesn't want anything to do with CL, and a couple others want revenge for the 'recruitment' of their fellow tribals into the legion.

That would be a sweet quest, maybe base it off of the Gauls and other euro-tribes and show similarities of some famous battles and figures and such. Also would love to see a Hunnic raider gang.

Isn't Tabitha's group supposed to be a faction or are they a sub-faction?

"The ruins of Freemont Street in New Vegas. At some point it was renamed Freeside. It is full of destroyed buildings, such as shops, casinos, and others. It is also the base of the Kings gang."

Freeside is in New Vegas, but it's outside the walls surrounding The Strip.

Well, I thought of something. If you need a passport or a credit check to get into Vegas.. Wouldn't that cause some hostility, similar to the Tenpenny issue? You would think people would be mad if they weren't allowed in. Seeing as it's probably pretty safe.

So only the Strip of Vegas has the wall around it? The rest of Vegas is in ruins outside of the walls? I was hoping for this. I just thought Freeside was inside the walls. There was an interview that shows people going from Freeside to the strip, I might be wrong but if I am right. What is to stop us from using that door?

I never have a hard time getting into Tenpenny Tower. Still the Strip will have alot more to offer then Tenpenny Tower so it will be worth the trouble getting into.

@Styles: I never had an issue either. I meant that only certain people could be in and it's hard to get in for them. Therefore, there are issues between those who are allowed in and those who aren't.

Are you talking about the people in the game? Those outside the walls would be jealous and even think that I would make a good target because I must be rich to get in? If so I hope that is the case. I would like to run into people thinking I am rich because I can get in to the Strip. For those outside the walls wanting in. I think alot of factions would want in. Ceaser's Legion for one.

The 'People of New Vegas' most likely means that the player will go independent, working and helping for whoever helps the common people the most. Just like a chaotic good hero that does things his own way and answer to no one other then his own moral compass.
