How do I do a targeted shot in Fallout 2?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 5:20 pm

The title says it all. I'm not entirely sure how to bring up the screen that allows you to target specific parts of the body. In fallout 1 all you had to do was right click your weapon, but I'm not so sure about this one.

I believe you press A when your cursor is a targetting reticle.

You right-click in the weapon image to change the type of attack. When a yellow bullseye symbol appears, that attack will bring up the VATS or guided aim.

Can you only do it on certain items or something? Or do you need some kind of perk? Because when I right click the image of my hunting rifle on the bottom of my screen, nothing changes.

If you took fast shot I don't think you can target.

Confirmed. I can't target and regret it. I will start a new game. The text for Fast Shot was not clear enough for me.

Fast Shot should mainly be taken if you're going big guns, because you can't target with any of the big guns anyway.

I see. And so that's why they added the extra action point? Imagine firing big guns three times per turn at max agility!

Fast Shot has always been like that. I didn't RTFM either and it took me by surprise. ...And IMHO, being able to target Head/Eyes is way better than fast-shot.

Okay, that explains it, I have the fast shot perk. Thanks for the help.

For most of the game its terrible but fast shot really shines when you get Sniper perk w/10 luck. Few things can match a player landing 5-6 gauss pistol crits every turn. I usually take Mutate as my perk after sniper. There isn't much of the game left by that point but it turns you into the single most destructive being in the fallout universe. Frank Horrigan's minigun has nothing on your semi-auto pistol.
