The number eleven: A motif?

Post » Mon Sep 13, 2010 11:01 pm

Given: The release date for Skyrim is on 11/11/11, which is eleven months away from the time primary trailer. Of further note but not necessarily related to the trailer, Armistice Day is on 11/11, and commemorated at 11:00.

Or it could be that the number 1 is a motif, given that there is "There's one they fear / In their tongue, he's Dovahkiin: Dragon Born!" Thus, the use of the number 11 is really emphasizing the number 1.

While I am at it, what famous dragons do you think might be involved? I'm thinking maybe Alduin and Ysmer.

Discuss.

All I expect is that there will be some update by the devs the 11th every month at the most.

So basically you are saying that if this were a party based game, with a party of up to 4 people, then that would mean its a motif and the trailer would say: there are FOUR they fear; then, the release date would be April 4 of 2044.

Please notice the sarcasm.

11 is an important number of great Significance. You'll find out that something important happened on a particular date or event and it will somehow equal the number 11.

MM/DD/YYYY 'Cause I'm in the USA

  • Little Big Planet 2 was supposed to be released on 1/1/11, but it was delayed.
  • Uncharted 3 is releasing on 11/1/11
  • Skyrim is releasing on 11/11/11.

It's a gimmick that a bunch of people are jumping onto.

How many times can you release a game on a year of all of the same number? Easy to remember, and trendy.

And those are just game series that I pay attention to, there are probably more.

11-11-11 is also 6 digits which is how many letters long Skyrim is. So you can make 11-11-11 become SKYRIM in a commercial or trailer. Although they could have used any MM/DD/YY combo for that, but they only have to make 1 trailer for all of the world this way. Instead of having to change 1-11-11 to 11-1-11 based on the country. :D

EDIT: I see Rivendell beat me to it.
