A curious thought

Post » Mon Sep 13, 2010 10:38 pm

I know it's not confirmed, but how exactly do you think we can side with Mr. House, because to be honest, I doubt you can just stroll into the Lucky 38, slam your fist on his desk and go 'Hire Me'.

If a Dev wanders in here, that'd be great. But I just want general ideas so I can figure out how I could work for him as his adorable lapdog.

Maybe you do a quest and the route you choose ends up being in favour of Mr. House and one thing leads to another.

I know, like I said, he likely can't just be casually approached, and I REALLY want to side with Mr. House. But it looks like the path to him may be very difficult to just find on your own.

I'm going to assume that while he's not directly involved with Benny, since Benny is essentially an important figure in New Vegas and that with whatever you did to Benny (kill him, beat him to a pulp, or left him a message), it's sparked interests for House to meet with you and then he summons you to the Lucky 38.

The game has a reputation system. Over time I am sure Mr.House will find you :stare:

What makes you think there will be a "New Vegas Faction."

Could be over time based on the money you make, the quests you do, he becomes aware of you. You're someone that can get things done. He might send someone (chances are a robot) out to invite you into lucky 38.

I don't see him as a Faction or a Faction Leader. I just see him as a landlord. He brought everyone else under his thumb. They might not be happy about it. Going to Mr.House's casino's and bars and winning all his money is a good way to get noticed. Helping people known to be against Mr.House is a good way as well. Mr.House is a businessman after all. At some point you're actions will get you on his radar and he might have need of you (possibly for the main quest) :deal:

Well if you guys check the Achievements List in the other thread, one of the achievements is "The House Always Wins" for beating the mission of that name and it comes after "Ring a Ding Ding", which as I recall from the Vault (I believe from Ausir) is the mission where we have to get inside of New Vegas to get to Benny. If the achievement list has it in chronological order, then it's likely that THAW is right after the mission where we find (and confront) Benny, and that's probably how we spark his interest.

Doing lots of side quests while interesting would deter some people and make them angry since we'd essentially have to be "grinding" but with quests rather than monsters (grinding is a term used primarily for JRPGs where a player must do many random battles with enemies to build up skill to progress through the game).

Also I'm pretty sure the mission where we meet House is the mission where he'll inform us of this petty war affecting his business and give you the option of helping him (or of course NCR or CL) since after that mission is "For The Republic" and "Render Unto Caesar" which are obviously NCR and CL missions respectively (I wonder if those missions we meet the commanders of Caesar's Legion and NCR respectively).

I am not interested in the Achievements List. Also thanks for that spoiler about where Benny is :stare: There will be more then one way to get into Lucky 38, I am sure there will be. Mr.House is important I think we all know that. He's not going to be another Tenpenny.

Ah sorry! I thought it was already common knowledge. >.< Well it's technically not official yet that is where he is, just that the questline involves us having to get into New Vegas to find information on Benny. It just seems likely he'd be there.

And I only brought up the Achievements List because the quest that sounds like it involves House [initially] is rather early, so it seems likely that it'll somehow tie in with Benny.

And I don't expect him to be another Tenpenny. I expect something like we receive a message to come to the Lucky 38, but find another way in since the Securitrons are looking for us now or something along those lines. Just walking in the front door would be boring.

Chances are Benny will be there so I am not really that upset. A really bad spoiler would be what casino he's in. This will be a very interesting Fallout. Fallout's 1,2 and 3 tell us what the main quest is right off the bat. With New Vegas we have to find that out :D Benny and getting shot and left for dead are just a plot device, a quest yes but I doubt the main quest. Well not 100% right "find dad" is a plot device as well but it did not take me long to find out about Project P.

From what I learned getting into the Strip will take time and not something we can just do right away. Getting into Lucky 38 might take sometime as well. So I am hoping the main quest will not make itself clear till I am many hours into it and many levels. :D

I imagine he doesn't just run it with robots. There are probably underbosses of some sort.. Work your way up, perhaps.

The devs said it in some interview(dont remember which one,if any one has a link, please post it) that there will be a NV faction.Plus, they probly want to fight ceasors legion, and as far as NCR gos, they probly want to fight them too,I mean think about it,would you be happy if a nother country decided to occupy us?NV was fine without them, and they just came in and took over the place.

I would like to see that interview. The people of Vegas all as one is just a stupid Idea. Also who would not fight Ceaser's Legion? I would not want to be made into a slave. Then again why would you not want to fight NCR? Both Factions are out to take control.

maybe you meet a represenative and he says if you want to help you have to do (insert mission here) he would be like the middle man. and eventually when you work your way up you finally meet house.

I think you will have to wait until you get a certain level of achievements and fame in the wasteland or have some really unique skills before Mr. House will hire you. Or similar to the New Reno mobsters in Fallout 2, at first they will only send you to small and unimportant missions with low pay, after you gain enough trust they will allow you to meet Mr. House in person and get the big missions.

Maybe in one of the earliest quests of the main quest will give you a choice towards which faction will be yours. The next time you're in vegas one of the Lucky 38 guards will come up to you and say "Mr.House would like to see you. Come with me. Oh, and just so you know not many people get to see him, so be respectful. Consider this an honor."
