forced level-up

hey, just a quick query here. i tried searching for a few terms, but it's one of those things that's kind of hard to search for.

i'm starting a new game to finally get through the dlc content but there's one thing i seem to remember bothering me a lot before: the game forcing level-ups. it may seem like a relatively minor thing but i like to save before every level-up (OCD ftw!) and since i use FWE's "no saving during combat" thing, that can be a little awkward. even regardless of that, sometimes i just like to wait a bit and think about what perk/skills to choose.

so does anyone know of a mod that stops the game from doing that, letting you level-up in your own time? i'm almost certain it's been done but nothing i search for comes up with anything. i also have a sneaking suspicion my memory has failed me and there's an easy way round this or something. if so, feel free chortle and guffaw in my general direction.

thanks!

Isn't it possible to exit the level up screen without allotting points or assigning perks? It has been some time since my characters have actually levelled up without console commands, so I forget if Fallout 3 allows you to do that the way previous versions of Fallout did. If that is allowed, then you could exit the level up screen, save your game, and re-enter to distribute new points.

There are mods that slow the leveling in fallout, http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=97 is one, but some people have reported having problems with it (I have used it for about a year without problems)
http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10597 is another one that looks really good I haven't used it yet, but plan on it on my next character.
http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7565 does this as well, i think. probably best to let her tell you more about it, or check out her thread on it http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1096923-relz-arwens-realism-tweaks-thread-no8/

@BadPenney - as far as i can remember you can't, as silly as it seems. i did have a slight fear while making this thread that i was remembering wrong, but i wanted to get this sorted while i was downloading and setting up all the mods i plan to use, without having to go through the starting vault sequence just to check. if i am wrong however i apologize for my laziness and pointless thread-making. : P

@barrettsfloyd - thanks but i'm afraid that's not what i'm looking for. i intend to use FWE which i believe gives you the choice to lessen experience gains, however i'm looking for something that stops the game from forcing you to level-up when you do gain enough xp.

While I'm not aware of anything that stops you from leveling altogether until you're ready, you could use this:

http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=352
Makes it so you can just not distribute any points of pick a perk and still close all the level-up windows.

That, or you could use this:

CASM is a must have either way in my opinion, since it makes quicksave....safer..ahem.
Anyway, it has an option to automatically make a full named savegame at every level-up, so you wouldn't have to worry about doing that yourself.

was already thinking of using CASM so that's decided it.
