Wanting some lighting mods

Post » Wed Sep 15, 2010 4:04 am

Well it seems that I have borked my game somehow so I'll be reloading Fallout and updating all those mods I collected. I had been using Fellout and was pretty happy with it but I've decided to try out something different since I'm doing a total rebuild. Xephas mods look very nice so I'd like to try those, but I'm also looking for mods that affect the ambient light levels. Night in the wasteland in vanilla is pretty bright, but by contrast Fellouts Darker Nights was a bit too dark to be realistic. I'm looking for some sort of happy medium, preferably one that would make the night lighter/darker depending on weather. I'd also like somthing that makes the interior cells pitch black (or pretty close) when light sources are not available. My reasoning is that I should be able to see better in a full moon than in a powerless subway tunnel. I tried searching the Nexus for Light and Dark but that wasn't as helpful as it sounds. So if anyone has found a good mod(s) combination that works well in this respect I'd sure appreciate hearing about it.

Thanks

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10607 will do the nights exactly as you want, some are darker than others, depending on the moon.

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13275 I haven't tried this yet, but it is based off the Darker interiors mod.

I tried to make the nights fairly realistic in Natural Wasteland, but I'm afraid I haven't done much to the interiors other than getting rid of the colour overlays and tweaking a couple of lights. I've been debating about whether to get rid of all the ambient light in the game and sticking with just actual light sources, but I kind of like being able to see where I'm going even if it's not realistic.

Thanks for the links!

My searches have brought up lots of weather mods, light and lighting mods and I even found one that changes the color saturation. But it is always hard to tell from the little screen shot just how that mod would look on my machine. I have a few weather mods lined up (including Natural Wasteland :tops:) but its a matter of finding the right mix of good looking weather and weather variety. Most of what I found for lights just changes the color/brightness of the pipboy light, though I'll want something like that as well.

Just a reminder that I'm not quite finished with Natural Wasteland. There's one area in the North West I haven't been to yet. It will probably be awhile before I make it up there again as this new project is taking up alot of my time. I haven't made it past Bigtown now for a couple of weeks. I decided to construct all those houses from scratch and have been adding some special touches to them. I now have 7 different wall coverings and an equal amount for the floor, for a total of 49 combinations. And that's not including the kitchen or bathroom. Each house is different, and each room type inside the house is as well. I've gotten a little carried away with it I guess.

PS: I was thinking of sending you a copy of what I have done so far but it's gotten too big to send by email.
