I wouldn't call NV an exact copy of Reno but they have some similarities.

You can probably meet, talk and do work for them all and considering the major factions, NCR and CL (and House), you can probably even join them... if you wanna call it that.

well, since its odsidian working on this one i would say that its a very strong chance that each faction will have a strong role in the story in general, its very safe to say that each faction will have quests and a story to tell, and probably based on the decisions by the players, you will have the chance to join a faction, not all of them but most based on karma anyways, who knows how things will turn out, but ifigure either way its gunna be sweet

a faction i always like to use while rp-ing is called the ash feather federation xD theyre a secret powerhouse group that sends a lone unit to an area to complete a task, by whatever means necessary, meaning if you have to take off old grannies head to get the key, you can as long as you complete the objective :flamethrower:

Actually I think Raiders were there own faction in Fallout 3.

As for the number of factions that have been confirmed so far in New Vegas, I think they have enough.

It has been confirmed that you will be able to join one of the major factions or remain independent in the game. Personally I am planning to join the lawful guys, the NCR, since their ideology fits me the closest.

I want the damn communists to come back for another fight to replace the dying Enclave... though I would like the Enclave to come back for one last "hoorah" too =/
