Pitt DLC assets in New Vegas

Post » Thu Sep 16, 2010 8:17 pm

Researching available assets while planning out a mod concept, I've come to wonder what troubles would be faced attempting to import assets from the Fallout 3 DLC 'The Pitt' into the New Vegas' GECK. I'm mostly concerned with the maps themselves, the location of Pittsburgh as it's layed out and getting the buildings, scenery and other structures rather than anything else.

Given that in Fallout 3 it required you to have the DLC to utilize DLC-related mods, how would this work in relation to New Vegas? Is it possible to export the location assets for use in New Vegas modding? I'm looking to more experienced and knowledgeable modders who might be able to shed some light on this!

If the assets from the Pitt were not included in New Vegas (and only a few are) you cannot use them. Porting assets from Fallout 3 to New Vegas violates copyrights and cannot be done. You could try to rebuild a Pitt-looking area using assets already in New Vegas, but actual importing would not be allowed. :/

Gunmaster95 is correct on every count. It's illegal to bring any FO3 resources over to FONV but you can build and approximation using FONV assets.
