What is CURRENTLY the most stable FW mod install?

Post » Sat Sep 25, 2010 10:09 am

Hey all,

I want to start a new modded game and I love all three major overhauls, but I tried to run all of them together and got a lotta crashes for my trouble.

Before spending a lot of time re-installing, modding and tweaking my game, I would like to ask the community's opinion : which have you found is CURRENTLY the most stable combination?
- is it FOOK2 with MMM?
- is it FWE with MMM?
- is there a way to generate a stable FWE, FOOK2 and MMM combination?
- is it something completely different which I haven't thought of?

Bear in mind that I do plan to add some additional mods to this basic configuration, but I wonder if there are any tips about the major mods.

Many thanks in advance,

Bendiwolf

In my own opinion, I have the easiest time with http://sites.google.com/site/fo3wanderersedition/

I say this cause:
-They have an amazing team working with them
-They are fast with fixing any issues
-They have a custom menu to suit any difficulty level you wish
-They already have many mods that are integrated into it (less searching for additional enhancements and patches)
-Works perfectly with Weapon Mod Kits, Energy Visuals Enhanced, Marts Mutant Mod, and Fallout 3 Project Beauty HD (as well as other mods since a lot of people provide their own patches for it). Just make sure you visit the http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4968 page to grab the patches.

Of course the other overhaul mods are wonderful as well, so don't get me wrong. This is just for my own personal experience :)

You can not run FWE and FOOK2 together without doing a whole bunch of work to make them play nice together. Even if you could, it wouldn't be worth it since both of them are still being updated.

Good luck!

Fook 2 is not compatible with FWE. You have to use one or the other.

For me the combination that I use is http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4968, MMM, FWE, WMK, Project Beauty. FOIP is the glue that makes those four mods work together beautifully. I also have a bunch of smaller mods that are compatible with FWE.

At the http://sites.google.com/site/fo3wanderersedition/ you can find a list of mods that are not compatible with FWE. It's a very extensive list and most anything that's popular is listed there. The Latest MMM is RC6 which can be found in the MMM thread. When you download FOIP make sure you get the MMM-FWE FOIP RC6 patch that can be found in the same thread with the download link. It's on page 4 - you need to download RC 5 because RC 6 so far doesn't include resource files, just esp files.

MMM thread ishttp://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1069335-relz-marts-mutant-mod-10-rc-50-2/.

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3388 and http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6341 are obviously not necessary to run with MMM and FWE but they add a little bit more awesomeness to the game.

Another good mod that FOIP supports is http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8340.

The FOIP files that you should download are:

FOIP - Eve and FWE (if running EVE)
FOIP - Project Beauty and FWE (if running Project Beauty)
FOIP - Weapon Mod Kits and FWE (if running Weapon Mod Kits)

In the FOIP readme there is a recommended load order. I'd also recommend downloading http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10193 which will automatically sort your load order. It's not perfect but I've been using it and haven't had too many problems so far. Just make sure to check your load order after using it and sort anything that isn't sorted properly.

Hope that helps!

Also if you haven't checked it out, the http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3808 is a good mod too.

Trust me FOOK 2 pls FWE could work together through FO 3 edit by deleting specific files or something.

I think you are over simplifying the magnitude of effort and complexity it would take to make them work together.

Yes I am oversimplifying it it took large amounts of trial and error. and I got it to work though I didn't use the DLC improvement kits

I use the latest FWE+WMK+MMM (RC5), and no CTD's whatsoever; not one. Of course, FOIP is mandatory.

I also run Fellout, Enhanced Weather and a few clothing mods, together with Arwen's Vision and Snipers Bliss (highly recommended this last one, if you like to play the sniper).
