Pre order bonuses- Bundle Pack

Post » Mon Sep 27, 2010 9:52 pm

I am personally upset about this whole pre-order bonus deal. I kinda wanted to do a poll to see how others felt.

1. I would rather buy a bundle that includes all the bonuses, instead of getting only one bonus pack.

2. Like I said, I really do not like the idea of giving some equipment to certain people. I feel that everything should be accessible to everyone. Even if those bonuses do not throw the game off balance, why should i be penalized for buying my game at one store. Seriously, I will be buying the game new, thus supporting the developers, and yet I get screwed over for doing so? Dont like that.

3. I would be willing to pay money for a bundle. But seeing as how you are only getting a few attachments, clothing, and guns (VERY few of each) i would not pay more than $5 for those things. If you compare to other DLC, CoDBO sold 5 maps for $15 (overpriced) and DA2 sold an entire sidequest storyline + an extra character for $8, i think $5 is pretty much the only appropriate range for a bundle of all the pre order bonuses.

EDIT:
if anyone feels i should add in extra options that more clearly define your opinion let me know

I'm not really bothered by the whole weapon thing, but I would really like to see an option for this after release. Its something that wouldn't really make or break the game in the first place.
And I put my vote in for $20, because its 4 packs, each one for $5 sounds about right.

Well you are definitely right that its not a deal breaker. But I am still surprised that you feel $20 is an appropriate price for all four. That would be $5 for each...1 weapon, one hat, one tattoo, and one attachment...I could never bring myself to pay $5 for something like this. But hey, to each their own

omg i am the 1st to vote "no" in "Would you be interested in the option to buy all bonuses?"?

Well the reason is that, yes ok they are cool and such but still not that important, one feels enough and also the costumization is already big in my opinion,i might won't even use it in the end.

Also i believe in pre-orders,since we take the step to give money for a product that we won't have in our hands, the gifts should have more variety, exactly for the reason i explain above.

I was speaking from a marketing perspective. Obviously I would rather pay just $10 to get all 4.

LMAO!!

Now that you say that, you made me realize something. This year, I took engineering economy in school, and they taught us what it meant for someone to give money for a product or service that is yet to be received! Pretty much here is how it works: That money that you are giving you could have put in the bank for interests. Obviously $5 isnt going to get much interests, but the company who takes the preorders, get lets say 100,000 preordes, then that is $500,000. And if they manage to get as much as a 5% interest on some account, then that would be $25,000 extra that goes into their pockets.

Sorry for that boring rant but maybe some of you would be interested in a little detail like that. It is a bit more knowledge on how the world and finances work. Not to mention how a little seemingly innocent act is actually a way for a company to make more money.

Again, sorry for the boring lesson :)

Yes,i would like to buy it from Steam, but then i'd like to also choose wich pach. Now it restrains me and i don't like that, also i don't understand why they do it.

From a marketing perspective i would like something that they sell at 30$ (just for example) at the start of the game, not to change it to 10 or for free after a month or two.

I hjave a bad experience...I bought starter pack for NFSWorld,it was 20$ something if i remember and after a month or so they decided to make it Free2Play.Without starter pack u could go only to lvl 10,to continue u had to buy starter pack.

So to make up for this (for our loss) they offer ingame cars...these ingame cars most of us already own them, also they were rentals!
I find it absurd, like they say "hey svckers!".Well, this is just me and hope i'm not going too much off topic but i mean they must be carefull with their marketing deals and staff.

I dont think people understand money really , at $5 for the 4 , thats $1.25 a pack which in england would by you 1 chocolate bar in some places or a 750ml bottle of coke if you lucky!. id pay 10-20$ for it , they could make a tin edition or something containing all 4 ^_^

First i was with most of you: i want 'em all and i would pay for it (i ticked 15$). But then i realized what i want even more: that these Packs are speshul and kinda rare and not everyone has access to them. First it is more fun to possess rare things, and second not everyone in the game should be running around with the same stuff. I think it's the game's philosophy to have very different looking players, so the devs just keep true to this philosophy with these widespread pre-order packs.

Per your example, who is to say that 1.25 each is a reasonable price for each pack, and that your 'chocolate bar' and 'bottle of coke' are not what is over-priced. As a matter of fact, would you say that 60 chocolate bars are worth as much as a full brink video game that took several years, employees, and knowledge to create? Worth is an abstract thing. There is no right or wrong.

Sorry, but that kind of mentality is something that bothers me a lot. This is a multiplayer game. Let alone one where you play co-op and versus. Why do people feel so much pleasure from having an item that no one else has? it is like saying "ha ha, I have something you dont have" and that really ticks me off. Like i said, this is a multiplayer, why should some people have more stuff than others? if it were maybe physical appearance accessories then I would not mind it so much, but guns and scopes and silencers ?! That is extremely unfair! even if it doesnt unbalance the game.

i don't mind pre-order bonus's being there, in single player games they can do what they want with them, multiplayer games though the items recieved should only be asthetic because i'll always want to know what the other pre-order bonuses guns handle. While if the changes are asthetic (a.k.a halo reach different armour and helmet) then i don't have an issue with it because it't just showing you were a real fan of the game, i would be ready to spend between £5-8 for the bundle seeing as that £8 is bout the price of a map pack, some tatoo's, hats, shirts and 2 guns and 2 attachements arn't really that game changing compared to that.

Agreed. Really i dont think a few shirts and hats and tattoos with two guns and two attachments should sell for a high price. I know that their is this interview somewhere, can remember where for the life in me, where the people talk about how preorder and special edition versions used to give fun stuff like real life hats and tattoos and collectors cards. Now people suffer because these in bonuses are in-game bonuses and people get left out.

I have to disagree with the above point really. Just because I think that mentality makes a lot of sense. To me it seems like the whole point of ranks in pretty much every multiplayer game about now. People like achieving, simple as. And just by having something someone doesn't (even if it wasn't really 'achieved') does in fact give a similar feeling. I don't think its a cruel way of looking about it at all. I mean, heck, whats the point in having competitive multiplayer? People like one up-ing eachother. So I personally think its a good idea. And as to your point earlier (sorry, new to the forum not quite down with the quoting and stuff) I don't get why you're making it seem like its a bad thing for a company to make profits, heck they deserve it if they're helping get hold of this bad boy . :P And another point (sorry lol) I also don't get why people think these scopes and silencers and guns are unfair and stuff. Its not like they're gonna be the ONLY scopes, silencers and guns in the game. I bet they're gonna be pretty much clones of other stuff in the game which is available to everyone.

So that long paragraph summed up.... Variation is good, as is competition. Doesn't make stuff unfair. :)

(and sorry if any of that reads are arsey or like a personal attack, as it really isn't meant that way!)

I voted for the 5 dollar option.

In my opinion there is just not enough content in the packs to be worth any more money.

Well, here is my take on the votes so far:

I expected to see that the majority of people would want a pre order bonus bundle and that is what i saw.

The second poll surprised me. I really thought the majority of people would vote for the first choice and instead they voted for the second one. Like I said, this really was an eye opener for me. It made me realize that the gaming community isn't a fan of equality as i hoped. instead i can only assume that the majority of gamers only care about having some type of 'edge' against other players wetter it be via aesthetic items, or actual items that affect gameplay. *sigh* this second poll really bummed me out.

Third poll gave me quite a scare at first. Initially the majority of votes went to the $20 option, but later on more people voted until they shifted the results to a point were cheaper = more votes.
The reason i say this scared me was because i would never dream of giving devs or publishers and ideas or incentives to sell something for so much money.

...I will try to think of another poll that hopefully most of you think is good.

Well, I guess (it's just guesses, I'm not sure if any of this is fact and I could be entirely wrong! ) it's a couple of things. One, people would like to have an incentive to pre-order (and to pre-order from specific places).
That's why I'm pre-ordering from Wal-Mart: to get the Spec-Op pack. And/or two, people also like to "one-up" people. In the gaming online community, especially the FPS'es (and some RPG's), I've noticed that ranks and
having special, exclusive stuff (whether it's weapons, clothing, special objects, magic, special abilities, etc) is seen as a big deal for some gameplayers. Some people are even willing to pay lots of money for such exclusives.

Aaand, I can't think of any other reason, sorry, lol.

Don't feel bad. It's only human nature to be competitive.
Just relax, find friends/family to talk and play games with, and just enjoy the games. Don't get so down! :hugs: :intergalactic:

I would pay 5 or 10 dollars for all of the bonus material. It seems kind of messed up though having content that is exclusive to people who bought the game from a specific place. The worst game that it ever happened to was Mass Effect 2. The game had ~50 items and they had exclusives. That's just cruel.
