Things from morrowind that should go into skyrim

Post » Sat Oct 09, 2010 4:40 pm

I say nothing from Morrowind. That's the best thing they can put in Skyrim.

No swords, magic, trees, Mers, tavers...
…so you basically want Tetris?
Also, the Morrowind hate in all of your posts is really getting annoying…

I can safely say that Morrowind contains gameplay mechanics that can not be completely scrapped in favor of better ideas.

Here's an interesting thought:

In MW, one could whack someone with staves, but could not hurl fireballs out of it.
In OB, one couldn't whack anyone with staves, but could happily hurl fireballs out of it.

It would be great if in Skyrim we could both whack people on the head and hurl some fireballs at them with our staves!!! :)

That is my favorite thing to do ^_^ (wacking with staves) throwing spells is nice to but I think it should be a spell you normally cast but gets stronger through a staff.

In my opinion there is a lot that can be gained by reflecting on morrowind. Such as swimming in morrowind, I can see! Swimming in Oblivion...can't see... Mudcrabs in morrowind....walkin...walkin...WHAT THE HECK that rock just attacked me! and it was a scary rock too...Icarian's Flight. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" *thud* poor fellow had only 7 seconds of 1000 acrobatics. So what do you think of these things, also what else do you think could benefit our beloved fresh new skyrim, from the old and wise morrowind?

Morrowinds monsters were stuped, the undead were cool, but the other creatures looked like midget T rex dinosuars with downsyndrome. Sorry Liked Oblivions Trolls, Ogres, Minotuars, and Spriggans : )

Oh one more thing: swimming animations!

In Morrowind, we could swim slow and fast and there were two different animations. In Oblivion was only one which looks very silly if you're swimming fast.
Not to mention that in Morrowind, Argonians looked very cool while swimming, while in Oblivion they were a bit dull.

Since now there are supposed to be three moving speeds (walk, jog, run or sprint), then maybe swimming will also be improved?

There a way way more important things that were better in Morrowind, but we've had threads covering each thing by now, so honestly, don't bother making these kinds of poll,s you'll just get a lot of flamers... That said I'll answer the thread to be polite ^^

Better level scaling

Better fasttravel system

Hand placed items

More unique world

More lore readily avaliable in-game

Darker feel (aka no overused bloom)

That's a good list Infernal, I agree with all those! These are exactly the things that I miss in Oblivion

Remember the story of the wraith getting married. It raised your unarmored skill by one (because she protected her dress very well) I loved that story, it needs to make a come back!

I'd say the Twin Lamps faction, this time with a full questline, but having in mind Morrowind is now half-invaded by argonians...oh, well.

Although it'd be still interesting, if the argonians have enslaved dunmer (as surely they've done)...it could lead to a nice and complex story.

World structure. Probably even outdone in Daggerfall, but I think there need to be more smaller and backwater settlements that still make sense (settlements in the middle of troll and ogre infested forests with no leading roads and 5 person populations do not make sense) to contrast with the main cities.

How about instead of implementing mechanics and aspects from a game from 2001, they implement brand new ideas and mechanics that completely trounce all previous TES games combined?

I always thought these games were like drugs.

theoretically infinite skills? in morrowind using the console to turn your athletics up a few thousand you can cross the map instantaneously, or acrobatics to jump outside the skybox, i don't think any amount of training would allow me to cross the UK in half a second, or jump into orbit.
as for monster diversity, they are going for more detailed models, so how much diversity can they have for a single disk Xbox game? (multi disk probably would work, with TES free roam.)

The Icarian flight scroll is usefull...if you have maxed acrobatics, like I do... but as a joke... or as a cliché to Morrowind, it could be fun.
