List of support options

Post » Sun Oct 17, 2010 2:03 pm

Does anyone know, or can make an educated guess, about the entire list of direct support possibilities in Brink?

[Edit: I've added the info in teh replies.]
- Medic: buff health
- Medic: heal
- Medic: "revive" fallen
- Medic: buff skill uses
- Medic: buff speed
- Medic: Adrenaline
- Soldier: shield (I'm not sure of how exactly this works).
- Soldier: give ammo.
- Engineer: buff damage
- Engineer: buff armor
- Operative: Give map info

Is that all? (Or even correct?)

[Edit: What I mean by direct is support that's applied directly to a teammate, not strategic advantages like mining of finding mines, creating paths, providing scouting intel, etc.]

Soldiers can provide new paths for your teammates by planting explosives in designated areas or resupply ammo to those who are in need.
Engineers can provide players with weapon buffs, repair damaged equipment, and plant mines in addition to disarming mines, explosives, and hacking devices planted by other players.
Operatives can disguise themselves as the enemy, hack electronics, and spot enemy landmines.
Finally, the Medic class can grant a small health boost to squad members,as well as revive fallen players with health syringes.

I know these for sure.

So is there going to be a 30 second period at the beginning of every match where everyone just buffs the crap out of each other like raid buffs in mmo's?

Also how long do these buffs last? Until death would be nice.

They removed the Soldier shield ability. Balance issues, apparently. As for support options (nothing but support listed below)...

Medics can revive fallen (but not dead) allies, restore health, restore supplies (at the cost of their own), and boost maximum health.

Soldiers give ammo and open paths with explosives. Ammo's a major one, because SD have said ammo will be fairly limited.

Engineers give weapon upgrades (extra damage), and can set mines and turrets for supporting fire in critical locations. They're also presumably going to be the ones resealing pathways enemy Soldiers opened up. And they can remove the hack-boxes from hacked turrets (and probably from objectives while a hack is in progress).

Operatives get the Hack Comms/Interrogate ability which provides teammates with a radar, and Disguising allows them to cause confusion within the enemy ranks. They're the least support-oriented class, from the looks of it.

Pity. It was the most original support option.

No invisibility.

And wave spawns mean that if the Disguised guy tries spawn-camping, and 2 - 3 people spawn at once... well, I wish him luck.

Also, while he's camping your spawn, he's not able to be off doing other, more XP-worthy objectives. Killing you at your spawn is pretty worthless.

EDIT: And if you're an Op, or the guy he had to kill to get the Disguise, then you can tell it's him anyway.

really? i would like to think i can easily take out 2 or 3 people in one go. if i was invisible with mines etc you dont really think i could wipe out a whole wave? remember brink has a very low player count for these days

But you can't be invisible and operatives don't have mines.

You WON'T have Mines and Disguise.

And you CAN'T turn invisible. Only Disguise yourself as an enemy - and to do so, you have to kill him, meaning he's in the next respawn wave, and he won't be fooled by your Disguise. Neither will an enemy Operative.

Disguise is Operative only. Mines are Engineer only.

If you're a Heavy Operative, and somehow manage to make it to the enemy team's spawn point, then you MIGHT be able to take down a group of them. If they don't manage to outrun you, which most Light and Medium body types will be able to do. Or you're really good and they're noobs. As soon as you fire a shot, your Digsuise is gone.

EDIT: Typo.
EDIT AGAIN: Wraithed by Wraith. But I added some to his answer, so not completely Wraithed.
