Looking for a Good UI/HUD mod

Post » Sun Oct 17, 2010 12:36 pm

With Oblivion, one of my favorite mods is "Immersive Interface," a mod that lets you organize your HUD as you choose. That means, if you want to completely remove health bars, the compass, map, etc, you can do that.

Is there something similar to this for Fallout? The only thing I want on my HUD is the cross hair--nothing else. http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/9726/screenshot0g.jpg (Notice the crosshair in the center)

I'd like to recreate that to the best of my ability in Fallout. Even if it means my only option is making the default UI much smaller (or something), that will work.

I've had the same default Bethesda HUD since the game's release, so I'm pretty sick of it. Any help is greatly appreciated!

DarnUI is about as popular as it gets.

Personally, I'd like a Farcry 2 style UI - it fades out until you reload or take damage or the like.

I saw that one but I wasn't a big fan of it... If it's my only option, though, it will work.

This mod is fully customizable, but to remove most stuff you will need to edit XML file. It is easy enough

DUI at its core just shrinks the health and AP bars, making the default interface just overall smaller. All the side additions are all optional and can be turned off.

Basically, If DUI doesn't have what you want, then you are most likely not going to find it.

My problem with it was actually the change of font, haha I know but it matters for some reason. But I gave DUI a whirl and it looks like that wasn't mandatory. The UI is pretty freaking small too so I think it'll all work out.

Might have to look for a Compass Remover mod though...hopefully that will be compatible.

Thanks guys!

I'd also love a Far Cry 2 style fading out HUD, but Darn's UI has grown on me. You can make it quite minimal with a bit of tweaking.

You can remove that with DarnUI. In the DUIF3Settings.xml file, you'll find (amongst other things) this:

<_HUDShowCompass> 0 <!-- [1] Show compass? -->

Compass gone! :D

One thing you might be interested in, for a more minimal hud, is: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9037. It hides the crosshair until you aim, although that's totally configurable, and it works fine with DarnUI.

Fantastic! Ah, that worked wonders. Much appreciated!

I have to agree, DUI is actually pretty nice next to vanilla UI. I do like it a lot more. A FarCry 2 HUD would be the best, because who needs to know all that information ALL the time? I only want to know how much ammo I have after I start shooting it.

I do like my Crosshair though but that mod is pretty intriguing, I'll have to give it a lookthrough. Thanks!
