Gameplay -> Settings Add New?

Post » Mon Oct 18, 2010 9:45 pm

In the Gamplay -> Settings... menu, I would like to add a new value, but all right-click options (New, Duplicate, Delete) are disabled. I can edit existing strings and names, but I don't want to break anything or change it globally. I would like to customize a single menu XML with a new hotkey value (i.e. - sPCMenuHintX) that is only used in that menu. Is it possible to add a new value to this list?

I have tried running as Admin, and am using a newly created ESP. I looked on the GECK wiki and searching the forum, but could not find this answer.

Thank you in advance for helping a GECK noob.

Those are probably part of the game engine.

Would a global variable work for you?

If it doesn't show a New option when you right click on it, then they're hardcoded and can't be changed. It certainly has nothing to do with being an Administrator, that's just the way it is. So if you want to add a new setting, you'll have to figure out how to script it in.

No worries. I used the existing sPCMenuHintF, as it was close to the existing WASD keys. Strange that you can alter these values but not define new.

The purpose of this was to change the "Take All" key to something besides A so I quit accidentally taking everything in a container when I expect a quantity dialogue is going to pop up and it doesn't. I could have made it work with any key I wanted, but to get it to show up with the correct choice in the menu box, there has to be an entry for it on this list (as far as I can tell), and those are limited. If you don't use one of these, it either shows the wrong key or nothing next to "Take All," though whatever key you assigned does work.

It seems to work as planned using F, so I'm good with that. RMB is also a choice, so I'm going to play around with that as well and see which feels more natural during gameplay.

Thanks for the answers.
