potential FIX for npc slowdown

Post » Sun Sep 27, 2009 9:43 am

When you join in a thread that involves full-power video graphics hardware that shouldn't be having problems, you should have something new to say; with only a business quality video solution, your laptop is SUPPOSED to run the animations slowly. That's what below minimum graphics always does.

so i can run fallout 3, oblivion, starcraft on high and ultra as coincidence, and this is not below min reqs, sorry i'm not part of ur super pc club

if u come up with anything else plz lemme know.

intel i3 u330
nvidia 310m
windows 7 64bit
4 gigs of ram

You do not have a gaming graphics adaptor on your laptop. I am surprised the game runs at all. However your performance will not be good on this platform.

Just wanna confirm that the dll fix worked awsomely for me as well. Using a Asus m50VM, pentium 2.3 dual core, 4 gig ram, 32 bit vista, Geforce 9600 w/ 1 gig.

WARNING. There is a Trojan virus on the Megaupload website. Its completely separate from the actual download. I accidentally clicked it and it gave me the virus. Had to reformat my entire drive. Be very cautious at this website. Only click the download. It really does actually work. But, Its the banner ads that are bad.

orphiuchus download the dll, put it into your mygames>falloutnv then COPY the file you just dragged into that folder and paste it into your bestheda>fallout new vegas folder. Should work then, let me know. Do exactly as I said in this post.

TBH i didn't put the download in both folders. I only pasted it into steamapps/common/fallout new vegas and it worked like a charm.

Everyone has his own individual set of criteria for what "high" amounts to. You happen to be in a minority compared to everyone else who all consider the very poor performance of the Geforce "10s" to be unacceptable. Here it is next to the practical Fallout 3 minimum card (be aware that the ignorant clerks at Obsidian screwed up the official minimums on Fallout NV once again, same as on NWN 2, so you can't rely on those).

http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=621&card2=354

On a pont by point basis, it can only manage 25% of the memory bandwidth, for instance. It gets only 69% on the next measurement, and finally, is able to reach 92% of a third criteria. That's compared to a six year old video graphics card, not to a modern Mainline card at all, which will blow the poor little Geforce "10" totally away!

I've requested a mod replace the MU link with the Nexus link.

Shouldn't take long.

The lag is back again, now i'm getting 14-20 fps no matter what I do, and once more setting everything to low doesn't help at all.

The fix works great, but after say 30-40 minutes the insane lag is back again

ugh....

Mhm, could be an overheating problem... My game is running very smooth since I used the file.

I hadn't realized the OP added it but the MU link is still there and should be removed. From the other thread that has it to please.

P.S.

Thank you Rohugh.

MU link is now gone.

I'm thinking I got a trojan from megaupload probably from an ad like everybody is saying. Downloaded from the Nexus link, runs great at 60fps. Are there any downsides to this as far as graphics are concerned? If I understand properly, it's a workaround for a DX10/11 issue that would normally go through a DX9 compatibility layer. Would this make it a microsoft issue then? Back to the game....

No sir, all my other games work just fine. If I alt-tab back to this forum while i'm running the game i'm back to 60fps no slowdown. Then a few minutes later regardless of my actions down to a very low fps, alt-tab and back again 60fps.

Same goes if I restart the game everything runs butter smooth, but after 2-30 minutes or so ..low fps

Between the comment about whether a Geforce "10" card has a place in the discussion, and this next, I'm not sure I'm staying in the topic's bounds, however it's been my understanding that most game developers who produce multi-platform releases have been including Dx9 as a part of their games' installs on PCs, to improve the compatability of the native Direct3D versions that aren't truly as backward compatible as they should be. Fallout 3 was performing that Direct3D addition, if it didn't find a newer Dx9 already in place.

I can't imagine that Obsidian would be quite so totally stupid as to interfere with that particular install procedure, although I can imagine VALVE being dumb enough.

in most cases if you just stand still for a little bit, then attempt to move you will have amazing FPS till you move any distance. I don't know I must be one of the unlucky .00001% this file didn't do squat for...

This Fix will not work properly on any nvidia optimus laptop without a work around. i had the infinite reset loop until i thought to run it with the integrated graphics. booted up instantly. So the 335m isn't activating like before with FO3. Right now I'm working on a way to get the GPU to switch properly.

Alienware M11XR2
Nvidia gt 335m with Optimus
I5-540um
320gb hdd 7200rpm
4gb ddr3

So I'm new to this party here, but why does FNV now think my computer has a Nvidia GeForce 7900 GS? I have an ATI card....

Is this bad, or can I just ignore what FNV thinks my computer has for a GPU?

Methinks that is what this file is supposed to do.. reports to direct x that the card cannot support direct x 10 (or 11). (The 7900 being the last DX9 card)

Still uses same shader package as before and I don't noticed anything missing graphic-wise. Just hope that's the case!

I want to confirm that this fix worked for me (The Media Fire Version). I was getting less than 20fps at 1920x1080 on HIGH now I'm up to 50 - 60fps at 1920x1080 on HIGH. I can' wait for this or something similar to get deployed in an Official patch because my game doesn't seem to launch properly the first time. The second time I click the icon it's stellar though.

Thanks to the OP because before the game was unplayable even on low.

Specs
Windows 7 Home Premium x64
AMD Phenom II X4 955
Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. GA-MA785GM-US2H (Socket M2)
4.0GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 535MHz (5-7-7-27)

I'm in the same boat as you. Not working with my 335m either, just an infinite loop. PLEASE post if you find a solution.
