Potential Main-Story Breaking Glitch (Legion Rep)

Post » Sat Aug 07, 2010 2:33 pm

So here's the deal. I got the Mark of Caesar and began the quest to go talk to Caesar. Well, on the way I saved some slaves from some Legion guys and got Vilified by the Legion. I did not think this would be a big deal with the Mark though, so I continued on my merry way.

Eventually I went to Cottonwood Cove to try to get to Caesar to talk. Well, I get swarmed by the Legion.

So I try again with a Legion outfit on. I make my way into the camp, but get found out by the dogs and killed again.

So I try getting some NCR dogtags for the Cottonwood Cove guy and get my Rep back up to Neutral with the Legion, however THEY STILL ATTACK ME ON SIGHT OR ON SNIFF WHEN I WEAR LEGION ARMOR.

I have tried many approaches to this, including having nothing on, getting rid of my companions, etc. Nothing seems to work. So, Bethesda, PLEASE MAKE THE MARK OF CAESAR DO WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO.

I'm kind of stuck in the main quest here as I can't get to Caesar without massive firepower.

The same thing happens to me. I saved those slaves early on, and got the mark of Caesor after that. No matter what I do, including loading a save from seconds after receiving the mark and going straight to Cottonwood Cove, they attack me on sight. If I wear legion armor they dont attack until I get to the tent inside the fort. BEYOND frustrating. Game is so glitched.

Not a glitch. If you are vilified then you are outright hated. No mark or letter from an ambassador is going to change that. The mark only clears you of crimes committed against Caesar's Legion if you're neutral and have killed/stolen from CL. Think of it this way. If that mark was a free pass no matter what, then you could go and kill any and all CL except Caesar himself and then have all that hate wiped. Does that make sense?

If the mark worked the way people assume it works then you could do anything you wanted the entire game, then if it became difficult (like trying to do "The House Always Wins, II) you could just carry the mark and come and go as you please.

Actually, this is not the case. The guy also says something to the effect that if you commit any more crimes against CL that you will not be forgiven a second time.

However, this is still a glitch if it's true what the second poster said. THAT doesn't make sense.

It makes sense if he's vilified. He never said what his rep with CL is, just that he freed "those one slaves" which slaves? How many CL did he have to kill to free them? It may very well be that he's neutral and it is a bug. However, I get the feeling that's not the case. Sometimes you do things that you don't realize will give you a bad rep with a faction, like tossing dynamite at radscorpions that happen to be fighting CL NPC's and you don't realize you've gained CL infamy.

If it says in your rep that your vilified your vilified. Always check your rep.
