Poverty mod, good idea?

I've never liked how easy it is to start racking up tens of thousands of gold while still storing all your priceless loot in a pile that puts the vaults in Vivec to shame. I've tried BTB's game improvements and Hotfusion's economy adjuster and they just don't go far enough so I'm prepared to go through the construction set and drop the value of everything to a good ten percent of vanilla, stick more guards around easily gained valuables such as the sword of white woe and the mentor's ring, increase the mercantile and speechcraft of every merchant to 100 and reduce the gold from 25 and 100 gold piles to just 10.

This would replace the economy adjuster's merchant skills plugin but remain compatible with the rest of the economy adjuster series.

However reducing the value of every item would make this mod incompatible with a lot of mods so before I proceed is this actually a good idea?

Honestly, just decreasing every merchants barter gold and increasing their mercantile skills would make making money quite a bit more challenging. Sure, you'd have priceless artifacts and daedric gear to sell, but to who? Without anyone having gold to buy things, making money would be a lot harder.
