Povuholo's Morrowind 2010 - Graphics and Sounds

Post » Tue Apr 12, 2011 6:30 am

Is there anything that will add some color to the game, particularly the weather and fog? Can anyone recommend a shader or something that will help with this? I find that the game looks very washed out.

Thanks

You should add in any of the reflection/bump mapped armors out there. I believe AnOldFriend made a few that were compatible with darknuts textures as well.

Link? I'd really like to see those.

There is also a reflection mapped steel out there somewhere, though I'm not sure if it was a finished release or not...

I can't thank you enough for making this list. I just got done downloading and getting all of it in order and when I walked out of the prison ship I was in awe. It looks like Elder Scrolls 5 xD

The sounds list would be nice... I don't think most people pay much attention to to it, but the fact that Dremora literally say "Roar" when roaring out their challenge, is bad enough. but when nix-hounds literally say "POW" when they hit you makes me feel like I'm trapped in a very old Batman episode...

I'm working on it. I don't think it'll include any sound replacers for creatures though, I don't know of any. :P

Yeah I've got it stored in my harddrive, though I'm not sure who released it in the first place :P

Depends on the location. 15-20 in Balmora (because of a large amount of lights and NPCs) and around 30 in the wilderness. I've disabled SSAO in exteriors now though, that was a little too much. Indoors I get a stable 60 FPS.

Somehow I forgot to mention http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6984. I'll be adding it when I've finished the sound part. I knew I was forgetting something important. :D

Have you considered Bloodmoon Landscape Overhaul? You recommend Texture Fix - Bloodmoon, but the Overhaul is made on top of that, which means it includes the Texture Fix - Bloodmoon mod. Here is a link:

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7078&id=5268

So if you install that, don't install the Texture Fix version.

Thank you for these lists it has helped me make it easy to find great mods much easier. Keep this up and hopefully along the way say what mods on your list might interfere with eachother for the some that might not know which ones will or wont.

I've remembered some mods I forgot when I first made the list, and played with some other mods as well. And some new ones were released. So here's what's going to be added to the list next:

I'm still looking at the bloodmoon replacers, I'm not sure which one I'm currently using but it has some things I don't like.

The sound list is still coming too at some point. :P

Can I get the shader chain you are using Povu?

Your screenshots look scrumptious.

Depends on the location. 15-20 in Balmora (because of a large amount of lights and NPCs) and around 30 in the wilderness. I've disabled SSAO in exteriors now though, that was a little too much. Indoors I get a stable 60 FPS.

See here's the thing, I have;

Pentium Dual-Core@ 2.7GHz
6.0 GB Ram
ATI Radeon HD 4600 1GB

and with your mod/graphics setup but ONLY with the Gimp bloom shader (but with distant land with some blur on it), I get an average of 12-13 in balmorra, 15-16 out and about and maybe 20-30 in interiors. Without shaders I get about 15 in balmorra, 20 out and about and probably 40+ in interiors. I've tweaked the ini for performance, turned down some of the display crap in windows, got the newest vid card drivers, followed the mge guide for performance and i just seem to be doing pretty crappy for what I've got... unless of course I'm overestimating what I have.

I know MGE says to disable my video card's handling of AA and such, but when i open it up the check box says "application defined" Does that mean morrowind/mge will handle it instead of my graphics card?

Also, your MGE looks a bit different from mine. You have more options and the numbers are specifically labeled "cells" while I have the newest version i could find and have less options. You also have your distant land set to 4 and can see for miles based on your pictures, but I'd be lucky to see red mountain from balmorra with mine set to 20.

Anyhow thanks for looking this over. I could have missed a download somewhere so I'll go off to double check.

Where did you download MGE? TESNexus has the last 'stable' version, but the new beta revisions are very good and I haven't had any issues with them. And overall performance is better with those too. I'm using revision 178, which you can find http://sourceforge.net/projects/morrgraphext/files/Beta%20Releases/MGE%203.8%2B%20SVN%20builds/ That version doesn't even have distant blur anymore.

I know MGE says to disable my video card's handling of AA and such, but when i open it up the check box says "application defined" Does that mean morrowind/mge will handle it instead of my graphics card?

Yes.

Also my FPS in Balmora is pretty horrible too sometimes, especially since I'm using both Children of Morrowind and Starfire's NPC Additions. I think it's all the NPCs and the many light sources that can affect performance there much.

And I'm pretty sure I'm using larger view distances in some of the example shots. Best way to compare is at the MGE part of the list, I showed screenshots with a cell distance of 4, 8, 15 and 30.

thanks for the list, this and the other thread. I'm going to make a Windows 7 return to Morrowind. I tend to forget where everything is and such. Also, not as up to date on the more recent stuff.
