Povuholo's Morrowind 2010

Post » Wed Apr 13, 2011 6:37 pm

Is it a good idea to use more than one .esp for the Hold It mod? I'd like to have starfires and the normal npc's using items.

Ugh.. so with the FPS Optimizer thing installed, my FPS is usually around 18 or 19. My GPU svcks.. should be playable though. But now I'm worried if I install MGE, it's gonna drop to like 8.

Oops wasn't trying to quote you, just hit reply so I could reply, haha.

The other esps are addons, not different versions of the same mod. So yes, use all the esp's that you want. So that's the 'Hold it replacer.esp' for the vanilla NPCs, and Hold it - SF npc addon.esp for Starfire's.

Povuholo, I'm just dropping by to thank you for this list, I already use most of the mods you're recommanding and downloaded the others ;) and for deeming 2 of of my mods worthy of being on your list. I actually did a little dance of joy when I saw the OP (much like that :twirl: ).

Slightly off topic, I haven't forgotten about a Hold it - TR addon, it's on my list after Pegasus Estate and A Bard's life.

Speaking of corruption, are there any save game utilities for Morrowind, such as CASM for Fallout 3 or Streamline for Oblivion? I just lost few hours of progress due to quicksave becoming corrupted. Same thing happened in Oblivion, but thankfully Oblivion backs up previous quicksave automatically.

I highly recommend against using QuickSave because of potential corruption problems. I've gotten into the habit of creating 2 or 3 "temp" save slots and just cycling among them. And at least at the end of every gaming session I create a save that I never overwrite. This seems to be a safer approach.

You're welcome. And your animation replacers will probably be on the graphics list. :D

Nopes - none of the mods Povuholo suggested so far needs MWSE - although if you go with his suggestions and use MGE (which is strongly recommended no matter what, even if you're not using distant land), you'll have MWSE running anyways.

Actually, Keyring does. And The Census and Excise Office.

I recommend using MGE which has MWSE built into it, then you can just launch Morrowind the normal way and MWSE will work.

Off topic but I love your sig.

Thank you. Sorry I missed this before.

I don't know where to begin..This is kind of overwhelming. So I got the game to work finally. Every now and then it does the weird crashing thing but if you leave it alone usually you can bring it back up. So since I installed Tribunal and Bloodmoon, which patch should I download? I went to the patch site and the Morrowind ones say "Don't install if you've installed Bloodmoon already." So should I just download the Tribunal one and the Bloodmoon one? Then after that, then what? haha..So install game > patch? > mcp etc?I commented on your profile elaura. Might be simpler to talk via MSN or something.

Yes, this is probably a better idea rather than to continue hijacking Povuholo's thread. :D One word: don't be overwhelmed. The worst that can happen if you install something backward is you have to start over, no big deal. Oh and GPU, not really as big an issue as most people think. The biggest bottle neck is actually CPU, because Morrowind doesn't use multi cores. If your CPU is good, you can always upgrade the GPU. Anyway, we'll continue this elsewhere.

Povuholo, thanks for the list and letting us hijack your thread temporarily.

Hi Povuholo.

Thanks for this. I'm using most of these already - and that's making me take a hard look at some of the one's I'm not, since we seem to be on the same page in terms of mod preferences.

In looking at NazoX9's guards mod, I see that there were some issues with LGNPC caused by the wholesale guard replacement. That's probably what scared me off of that one when it was released - worries about these sorts of indirect negative side effects. Have you been using the mod long enough to have a feel for whether it has created any other issues along these lines? Also, how are you handling the integration of the compatibility patches? I see the author commented that including his mods in merged lists broke the patches - I wonder if integrating his edits directly into the related .esp files would resolve that. Anyway, just wondering what you did here.

I'm using the compatibility patches, but I haven't merged them into anything. I've done far from all LGNPC quests so I don't know if those involving guards all work, but I assume with the compatibility patches they will.

If I want to use races and birthsigns are more fun along with Wakim character balance what will happen. Would it keep the adjustment to skill increases while changing the races and birthsigns or would it be totally uncompatible?

I have no idea, I haven't used Wakim's mod in ages.

There are so many Balmora expansion mods, I don't know which one that is. Anyway, I don't think I've ever used one. With the graphics mods I'm using, along with Starfire's NPC Additions and Children of Morrowind my FPS is already low enough in Balmora. :P

A very good list! I downloaded many of the mods here, and they're just awesome. B)

But I have a question about Better Bodies and Better Clothes. The clothes look weird on the Beast Races, and I'm wondering if the mods like Liztail's and Slof's that change their bodies are compatible with the first two. If not, then can somebody provide me with a mod that is? Thanks, and I'm eagerly awaiting your graphics mods.

Plus Slartibartfast has a texture fix to it as well:

Here is the Lite addition by Slartibartfast to help with fps:

And I havent even looked into the recent update yet:

When you're entering a post, on the second line of icons, third from the right there's one that looks like a chain link. Click on it and enter a URL and some text.

Actually I am really having second thoughts about this addon as it may not be completely lore consistent and fps has been an issue for me (below 20) so I may end up uninstalling it. Not sure how mod friendly it is with other mods that change balmora either.

However, I have 1 more mod that has been great for me which is "the sable dragon" by Pluto. Its made for a low character level between 2-5 and is between Seyda Neen and Balmora. Its a newer and newly updated mod and I have had no problems and no fps hit so far....a great mod for newly created characters because it seems like there are so few mods for low level characters (good reason alone to add to your list)...

Povuholo, I'm just wondering what kind of system you have. Would it be too much to ask? I'd really appreciate it, thanks. Just so I know how close you are to my specs.
