Povuholo's ToMorrowind - A mod recommendations list for toda

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:13 pm

Better Music System - similar to the Oblivion mod of the same name, this mod adds regional music and greatly enhances the games music system. Includes a number of custom tracks and also the option to use the original game music as well. I love it and can't imagine playing the game without it.

I still need to try the latest version, the last one I used had some issues.

Some people that had problems with previous versions seem to have solve them with the latest one. If you try it, let me know if you have still issues, I need as many feedbacks as possible to make it stable for everyone.

And.. since I'm here, can I make a little more self-advertising? :P

This is another DB delayed attcks mod, I know, but it's the simplest, it simply delay them until you have completed the MW main quest:

I am curious why you haven't included http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7904 and http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownloaddetails&lid=2262 into your list? Are there major incompatibilities between these mods and the ones in this list?

Also is http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=30205 compatible with Piratelord's Creatures X since they both deal with creatures?

Also, is there a race balancing overhaul for Morrowind? Like RBP is for Oblivion?

I think Birthsigns Are More Fun and http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7154 are the closest equivalents to RBP you'll find for MW. I've used BAMF (in fact, wouldn't play without it), but not RAMF yet.

Thank you for the link, but I am using GCD and planning to install BTB's Game Improvements. Won't these conflict? That's why I edited my previous post to remove this question.

@dreamer2008: I think Morrowind Advanced and Creatures X are compatible with each other as long as you merge your leveled lists properly using Wrye Mash. I've never had any bother running them together anyway.

RAMF and BAMF conflict with BTB's Character module, yeah. It just comes down to which changes you prefer really - for me that's RAMF&BAMF, for others it might be BTB's. Just have a look at the things they change (both mods have very detailed readmes, which is always nice) and decide which one you prefer :)

One thing to mention is that if you're running GCD, the Level-up Birthsign Remover that comes with BTB's doesn't really effect anything, since GCD already removes the attribute caps.

Thank you for the info. Luckily I merged the leveled lists with Wrye Mash.

Yes, I noticed that the Character Module doesn't really change anything with GCD active, and I think that this play through I am gonna just stay with the vanilla Birthsigns and Races.

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8713 is a mod that updates the armor meshes with some nice details that I quite like.

Is the detailed armors mod compatible with BTB's game improvements equipment changes? I'm thinking about using everything but the characts and settings (because I'm using GCD for that) for my next play-through.

I may be mistaken but I'm pretty sure Expanded Sounds 1.3 is just an esp update for 1.2. 1.2, however, has needed sound files. In other words, you need both downloads to have the fully updated mod. In which case you'll want both links on your list.

From the 1.3 readme:
To check that this mod is installed correctly there should be a folder called PLX_SND in the DATA FILES\SOUND folder. The esp Expanded Sounds should be in the DATA FILES folder.

Only, the 1.3 download doesn't have said required folder :sadvaultboy: but 1.2 does. :vaultboy:

No idea, I think they could conflict when you use the esp's, I renamed the meshes (and I think they should go in the Meshes/a folder) as mentioned in the comments over on PES, but didn't test it yet however. If this renaming does the trick, then you can use it with whatever stat-altering mod you wish.

No mention of a great (maybe the best?) sound mod?

Fantastic, it has been a while and there are some there that I wasn't aware of.

Some suggestions for your list, maybe?

- The Underground 2
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?id=5865&view=Mods.Detail
With patch, http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1060060-the-underground-2-patch-project/page__st__60

Maybe a little unstable.

- Magical Trinkets of Tamriel IV
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=mods.detail&id=2981

Great mod. john.moonsugar made a patch for it available here http://sites.google.com/site/johnmoonsugar/Home/morrowind-mods

- Balmora Expanded
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=mods.detail&id=373

Also available as LITE version http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=mods.detail&id=4382
Fantastic community effort.

There is also a fantastic dungeon mod by Arnor that added to and merged some work done by PCC/Blockhead and xereau.

I installed a lot of those mods and one of them made my map reset to the default unexplored state, but I can still hover my mouse over for example Gnisis and get the "Gnisis" popup window. Strange! :)

Anyway, can someone link me to somewhere where shaders are explained? Because I really want those shaders, but I have no idea how to get or apply them.

I think that Texture Fix causes map to reset when applied in mid-game, because it modifies cells. At least that's what happened to me.

Thank you for this, I have installed just about everything on this list and all I can say is "Wow"! After 72 hours of downloading and Readme reading I finally (almost) can begin playing again. I was never bothered by Morrowinds graphics, but even I can see how much better it looks now. I do have one question though, Vurt's Groundcover and Muspila's Grassmod, I have them both but it seems that I can't walk through the grassy areas. Whenever I come to a patch of grass I get stuck and have to jump on top or over the grass to get by, is this the way it's supposed to be? Is there a way to turn off clipping for grass only?

You probably have the grass turned on inside MW itself, which you shouldn't. Its for MGE to use only. Un-tick it in whatever you are using to enable esp files.

:tops: I second this one (Super Vvardenfell Tunnels)...this mod includes the Dwemer Tunnels & Corprusarium Caverns among other wonderful dungeons.

That did it! Thank you much.

Now if I can only nail down this stupid DEP/CTD issue.

thanks for the great list, Povuholo. I remember how I used to think my old morrowind graphics mods used to look good. I now realize how hideous the game was, and how beautiful it has become. The tree and grass mods definitely make Morrowind feel a lot more lush and alive.

Thanks for all the links to the outstanding mods! :user:
