Power Armor Idea

Post » Sat Feb 07, 2009 7:14 am

I highly doubt this would be put in DLC, maybe in a future game, but not New Vegas DLC. That's why it isn't there. But if mods are convinced that is where it needs to be, move it. Plus, the traffic is higher 'round these parts. I had an idea for a new power armor. You will say "But it isn't canon". Make it canon.

T-65a Power Armor
19 DT
1000 HP
35 WG
+3 AGL
+15 Rad Resist.
+25% speed boost
6500 Caps

Much smaller and more fragile then most power armor, but the servos work faster then you do and let you truck along quickly. I thought it would be a big help for those using Unarmed or Melee characters.

Making something canon out of nowhere won't be very effective as we hav'nt seen any mention of it in any game, but maybe as a prototype?

I personally would be against this but meh.

Prototype yes mass numbers no. I would make it 20,000 caps.

Correct, it is not a cannon

@everyone else, yes, make it a prototype suit. I was thinking something that looks like a very lean T-45b with rounded shoulder pads. And make it black.

wel, my problem is that it's "power" armour, which kinda hints at a heavily armoured character, however, i think a NCR ranger mobility armor would be cool and would be more suited. I do like your idea, but it doesn't fit in my opinion

I think the BoS should get off it's butt and start making new Power Armor like the one you suggested. It's been what? 200 years?

Hell, even if it's using old world tech like how the Tesla Coil was used for the Tesla cannon, it'd still be better than re-using the same stuff. Especially seeing as how the enclave could make new Power Armor and now they are basically 99% destroyed. I think it was a bad idea to destroy the Land Carrier thing in FO3, it makes more sense to me for the BoS to take that over.

Not official, but not a bad mod idea.

I'd like to see a 'Berkley Bionics' style Exo skeleton as standard issue NCR equipment.

They can't just make stuff just like that it takes years and research

I dont see how people can say that just because it isnt canon does not make it possible.

The people of the wasteland might not know about it, but if it was mass produced we would definietly have seen it by now. Thats really the only problem. Which kind of bugs me cause there are so little variations and styles of power armor.

so a exo skeleton rather than armor, sounds cool, don't seeing it having a high DT though.
a speed bonus, an agility bonus and/or similar bonuses would work, it'd be useful for a melee/unarmed/shotgun character build and would be an interesting step in the game

I don't see it having any DT, but had they used the idea, then Power Armors need not have been crippled for game balance, as light conventional armor could have been made wearable under the exo legs/arms ~and regular PA could not.

There's plenty of power armor models.

T-45d
T-51b
Advanced Power Armor (Remnants Power Armor)
Tactics Power Armor
Enclave Power Armor
NCR Salvaged Armor

And that's about it really.

Like i stated, it's been a while since the bombs dropped...

The Enclave made new power armor (Hellfire) and then the BoS beat the Enclave so i think it would make sense that some of their tech was gained. (Only thing is that their bases have a habit of exploding, destroying alot of info).

And it would take a bunch of research but what are they doing now? just fixing old pieces and not even trying to improve upon them? I know the BoS are about recovering old world tech but still, i think they should try moving forward too... If i were in the BoS i would be a radical, lol

i wanna see that power armor they were going to use in the cancelled fallout 3 (?)
power armor has been crippled to ensure balance, it's no fun if you know you're just gonna end up using the power armor

In Fallout 1, the BOS could repair existing suits, but not build PA designs. In Fallout 2 they may hire the PC to Steal Enclave vehicle tech, but are mostly non-existent for the game. They magically appear in Fallout 3 (along with the Enclave ~back from the dead), but they seem as baffled as the rest of the DC inhabitants about researching even the wheel, or wind, pedal, or microfusion powered carts.

As far as new Power Armor goes, I'd like to see these two:

Neon Power Armor: Modified T-51b Power Armor designed to show true Vegas flare.

Future Weapons Today photoshoot Power Armor: Black, spiked T-45d Power Armor, found in a Future Weapons Today studio. It should also have red eye lenses.

It needs more DT, or DR; even now Power Armour doesn't seem to worth the trouble as they can't offer enough protection.

The problem is, is that for some odd reason you find Power Armor in crappy condition. I would think with how overzealous the BoS is about Power Armor that it would be in tip-top shape...

If it needs buffing, I think it should be in the speed department because that was the idea from the start. You don't need much DT when you can dodge bullets, right?

Agreed. It was prized by them.

Now what happen to Armour Class.....

No, in the current Fallout setting, you don't get to dodge bullets. As for the agility over protection, I think it would be more like an improved sneaking suit.

As for a "Speed" type power armour mod, there is a Coyote Power Armou, its pretty cool.

T 51b has no agility penalty so No. Sure it doesn't benefit from Light traveler perk, but neither does any armor medium & up.
