[WIPz] Power Armor Redone

Post » Fri Oct 09, 2009 2:01 pm

err..not true... a 3in thick wool coat will protect me WAY less than a 1 inch thick Titanium alloy briast plate

thicker doesn't necessarily mean more protection

WE are talking about power armour, if you want it to be wool have fun with that.

What I am saying is that....
Yes ok the Paladins could keep it in perfect condition and after ever battle repair it to full condition.
HOWEVER, after you have shot the person wearing it to death it is going be destroyed... Thats is job it takes the damage instead of the person.
Yes the paladin could keep it in full condition, but after you kill him in his armour, unless you poison him... His power armour is not going to be in full condition, or anywhere near!

Well, nevermind me using photoshop for. . .anything. I fail at it so I wont butcher my mod with my craptastic work.

Also, slight update, most of the cells are done except for testing the lighting and placing quest items, so just a little update.

Thats just lazy...
Copy, Paint Bucket, Paste... To make a Talon Piece of Power Armour.

  • Download Photoshop,
  • Download the DDS plugin,
  • Unpack the Fallout BSA files,
  • Open File C:/Program Files/Bethesda Software/Data/Textures/CombatArmour/TalonCombatM.dds
  • Copy the Logo off the chest.
  • Open File C:/Program Files/Bethesda Software/Data/Textures/PowerArmour/PowerArmourAll.dds
  • Make a new layer and set opacity to 50%,
  • Paint Bucket over the entire Texture,
  • Paste the Talon Logo ontop of the chest in the same layer.
  • Save the file in PowerArmour folder/TalonVarient.dds
  • Open GECK and EDIT BOSPowerArmour changing the model to TalonVarient.dds and save as TalonPowerArmour.
  • Create a CondTalonPowerArmour,
  • Add CondTalonPowerArmour to the Talon3Gun item leveled listing.

Lol, thanks, I am watching a tutorial on photoshop right now(well, and making some food) so I could do stuff like that.

I just don't know what the tools are and how to properly utilize them to their best effect yet so everything I make is either a semi bleh grayscale that is lolworthy or something that looks bad in every way shape and form.

I never said I was giving up, just said my crap wasn't going to taint my mod xD

Well cool, between you, this video I found and Google, hopefully I will be able to make a presentable BoS T-51, if for nothing else than to make Star Paladin Cross look even more [censored]

That's the HARD way to do it.

Just open the corresponding logo.dds and change it to something you want.

why go through all the extra steps to copy it off the armor, when it exists in it own file?

Does Talon have its own logo?
You still have to make the armour black.

Also I removed the shoulder logo for my Talon armour, Chest logo suited Talon much better.

It's my thread, and this subject is pertinent to the OP in that it furthers my modding ability, so jack away. . .erm, that's bad.

Anything that can open DDS files I believe.
Good luck with it Unospazmatic, I would offer my assistance but...
1) This is a really useful and easy thing to learn.
2) My mod probably wont work with this one when its released and, ... You know.. :(

But I still offer tips. ! :D

Alright, I just got the texture for the Talon company version. I will finish my playing around with it and load it up in the GECK to set up the texture set then take some screenshots for everyone to see what DominionOvrU did. Brb

I looked over your new update and your stat changes for the armor and it look great. But I can't help but bite my lip seeing now we are gonna be competitors once this mod release. But best of luck to you. This mod sounds really fun to play! :goodjob:

Thank you, I certainly hope it ends up being fun.

Small bump here as I have updated the OP, just a few small changes(working on a BoS texture for T-51 either tonight or tomorrow now that I figured out how to use photoshop to an extent).

Also, I am still looking for a voice actor, if you PM me I can either get the lines you will need or refer you to TheDamned who has everything. Looking for male, medium to low voice, see OP for more details.

Yeah, we have only had 1 person apply so far...and it would be really nice to have a few people to choose from ^_^

Have you received a test recording from them yet? All we need is one good voice and we're golden :P

Just doing a quick update.

Textures are mostly setup(still have to do the BoS one), npc needs to be finished(scripts, final location, voice, etc.), I have to place some quest items, I have all but the last and first cells finalized(save for the few items that need to be placed/moved), still waiting on a voice actor for this npc(see the OP for directions if you wish to apply for the role), I have Crow and Chief Gustavo selling T-51(still need to test it to make sure but I followed all the tutorials on vendors I could find). I think I am forgetting something, oh well, should be good for now.

Alrighty, time for an update. I was having a little trouble getting the basic T-51 armor onto vendors, and lugaru provided the method: a simple script attached to a quest so the quest runs the script once and then the script ends the quest. AFAIK this has made the mod compatible with mods that alter these vendors merchandise lists. The script is available to anyone who asks for it(more details in this thread http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=943086).

Now the only problem I have is that with all my mucking about in the scripts all of the wandering vendors(Crow, Lucky harrith, etc.) don't wander where they are supposed to, so I will be fixing this next before I continue on as it is a fairly annoying problem.

Edit: good news, in a way, it isn't my mod causing the wandering merchants to stop wandering, so now I just have to ferret it out and make sure it isn't accidently saved into my main fallout3.esm file.

Just a little bump on this thread to see if people want an installer or if they just want the textures folder(with path) and .esp

Getting close to finishing this, think I will leave it as a wip simply because I don't plan on being "done" in the foreseeable future(want to add quests and more more more)

I'd use a installer, but I prefer just 7zip files with the stuff in it. I like to know what all is going in, in case I want to remove it. Sure, a uninstaller would work just as well, but I like having control over my game.

Actually, the installer I am using also works as an uninstaller(just tested it myself, will be sending it to others to make sure it works there as well).

I planned on releasing both, but I just want to know what everyone thinks. If i get a ton of votes for only the textures and .esp then I wont bother with the installer.

Oh, nice. Though I'm most likely going to get this out of a sense of duty, as it seems I'm going to be the voice actor(unless there has been more apps for it). Plus, I like new textures.

La'valle and thedamned are up for it too, I have only heard thedamned's voice over so far, I don't think La'valle has submitted on yet and I haven't heard the one from you yet.

Edit: if you want me to hear it, PM it to me, don't post it here :P

Nevermind the items being on vendors, even when I directly add the items to a list or their container you can still only buy it once, I can't figure this out. I made a script to add the items, I made a new respawning container, I added it directly to the container(both on and off a list) and nothing is working, so it looks like vendors wont be able to sell T-51.

I'm going to go drink a [censored] beer and then break something and then come back and see if I can get this to work.

Just don't break your arms or hands or fingers...we'd like you to finish this mod :P Odd that it doesn't work. If you can't get it working by tomorrow, I'll see if I can fiddle around with it (along with the 100 other things I have on my todo list lol)
