Power Armor is TOO Powerful

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 2:10 pm

I am level 31 and wearing T-60 unmodified Power Armor.

I just walked up to a Legendary Alpha Deathclaw and decimated it.

Then, while fighting it, Survivalist Raiders appeared and two of them had .50 caliber weapons. They shot me point blank and would take, maybe, 5% of my health bar.

I then stomped them and their buddies.

Power Armor takes all the joy out of the game. Even with top-tier weapons and top-tier (modded) combat armor the game still offers challenge from high enemies.

But with so many fusion cores (I have 60+) Power Armor is OP.

I hope a patch will either drastically reduce the number of cores to be found (so you can only use armor occasionally) or the defenses (not hitpoints but defenses) of the armor will be lowered.

My .02.

I'm playing on Survival-Ironman - and when I get wounded my wife stands beside me and stabs me with a steak knife!

Take the PA off then? You don't "need" to use it.

Yeah, the fact that it is the only armor in the game that has durability and runs on actual power is a testament to how powerful and strategically it should be used. It acts more like a tactical decision now, which I really like. Just that feeling of "ok, a behemoth is in there? Time to bust the power armor out" Also, when you put it on, you are the big bad boy in town when it comes to the cities of Boston and Lexington, not just a small tiny guy trying to make it out alive like usual, but the center star. Which I really like the ability to transition like that. Not to mention that if you read the lore, a single soldier in power armor, even the weakest one, t-45, could take out entire settlements singlehandely with no risk of danger.

You should've seen what it was like in Fallout 1 and 2. Physically nothing shy of a deathclaw or high end energy weapons had any sort of chance to deal any damage to you. At least in this game basic raiders can still deal some sort of damage, no matter how weak they are.

I have intense hatred for threads like these. If you think its to powerful then stop using it and stop whining about it and trying ruin it for people who do like it.

The abundance of fusion cores and the perk that allows you to increase a fusion cores lifespan destroys any notion of strategically using Power Armor(PA); very cheap to repair too.

Um I may state my opinion. Get over it

The fact you have intense hatred over a game post is rather disturbing. Maybe talk to someone about your mental and emotional health

On topic: perhaps if it was rare. I doubt scavengers would simply leave it sitting around in cages and garages. Likewise the fusion cores.

I don't think you know what "problem solved" means.

If its too powerfull than dont use it?

Dont see why the damage resistance should be lowered or fusion cores made more rare. There is literally no logic complaining about this when the simple fix for you would be to not wear it?

They finally get PA right and of course threads like this pop up claiming it to be OP. Just a joke really, and thankfully the vast majority of people are happy with it as it is.

That's pretty much what I do. I only grab the power armour when I enter difficult areas. It's basically "taking the gloves off".

B)

Though I have been wearing it somewhat exclusively now. Seeing as I have 50+ fusion cores and X-01/T-60 armour. Honestly. I think its repair costs should be increased, fusion core merchant costs should be doubled (or tripled) and either tone down the core duration or make them slightly rarer.

In skyrim it was "just don't use the smithing exploit to become godmode!"

in fo4 it's "just don't use the new game feature and iconic armor which is handed out to you for free in major quests to become godmode!"

In tes6 it'll be "just don't launch the game!"

I had unmodded T-60 and walked into Crater Town, and got my butt handed to me by a skull-level Mk8 turret (while a bunch of Children of the Atom were bouncing Gamma Gun shots off my radiation shielding).

Well let's not ruin someone else's fun over petty preference of difficulty. This is a single player game not a competitive sport.
Don't like being OP? Don't use OP gear. Go naked if you feel like it.

And all 3 are viable options for people who do nothing but whine about things being OP.

My point being it's getting ludicrously easier to break BGS games each new entry they make.

I mean yeesh this time god-mode it literally just handed out to you for free, no crazy exploiting or anything lol :D. Will TES6 you start at as a Daedric God? :P

(P.S: I actually don't use it because I actually feel like paying attention once and a while (on survival), but some attempt at balance from BGS maybe ONCE would be nice..right?)

Its too good for some, just right for others.

IMO its perfectly fine as is, I'm a diehard traditionalist when it comes to fallout, and the power armor is as tough as it was intended to be IMO.

If its OP well its supposed to be. To shrug off small arms fire like it wasn't even there, to wrestle a mutant to the ground, I'm kinda meh when it comes to space marine features like groundpound and jetpacks

Its cool, but feels rather out of place for groundpounds not to mention it makes my settlement hate me lol.

Well, it is supposed to be akin to a walking tank.

Other then the fusion cores not lasting as long as they do in lore, they behave as they should.

I do think that the frames, and armor themselves could stand to be more rare in the sense of gameplay, but otherwise I like the early accessibility.

Morrowind was FAR easier to break (daedric weapon and glass/dark bro armor at level, yup, easy peasy) then Oblivion and Skyrim were. so if anything is not not "Getting easier" and more going back to what it was.
