Lore-wise ( T-51b ) Power Armor is supposed to make the wearer a tank. The impact it can absorb is huge and one T-51b troop could cut a swath through Chinese forces. Lore-Wise and in the originals, it's an invaluable tool, in the latest games ( 3 and New Vegas ) PA is worthless. In the originals PA gave very nice bonuses and helped actually protect the wearer. It carried itself twice over. The benefits were even greater once you got your hands on a suit of Advanced Power Armor or Advanced Power Armor Mk.II.

Ive never played 1 or 2, but I can agree that power armor isn't very "power"full.

PA needs a serious buff in NV.
Its simply not worth its weight in DT now.
I have an idea for a perk for PA.

Name:Power armor Master
Req:Repair 100,Science 100,Perk:Power armor training
Ranks:3
Description:You have become a Master in the use of Power armor.
At the first rank of this perk,All Power armor gets +10DT and 10%DR.
At the second rank of this perk,You learn a special Chemical hardening process for Power armor.
This Adds special Hardend Power armor recipes at Workbenches.
At the third rank of this perk,The DT bleedthrough effect is removed when wearing Power armor and all Power armor carries its own weight when equiped.

What do you think?

I wouldn't post that here Legend, that's not really what we're discussing. But the perk is decent.

Its just my two cents on PA.
FO3 PA is doomed to be [censored],but there is still hope for NV to redeem its self and return the ways of FO1 and FO2.

I meant posting the perk, I don't think it will be redeemed but I can hope. I would love to see PA go back to being useful and actually make you appear larger. In the originals your size in PA rivaled Super Mutants. But I doubt that'll happen because then light armor users will complain and everyone will get all upset that PA is rightfully better than their inferior armor.

Personally I think that is... crap.

By definition, all power armor should carry its own weight off the bat. Or at least have upgradable power elements/ joint servos.for an increased carry weight. But that shouldn't be a perk.

Removing the bleed through entirely would be silly from a gameplay perspective as anyone with power armor in the game would become practically unkillable unless you used a mini-nuke. And im sure its already been discussed why removing the bleed though for the player only is both impractical and from an engine aspect, impossible.

Everyone who has removed the bleed through has said that it makes Power armor feel like Power armor.
High DAM weapons like the Guass and AMR can still hurt you.

I'd say save 1-2% bleed-through to simulate bruising and such from heavy impacts from weapons. It won't matter though, you will still never take a PA soldier down with a hunting rifle :)
And then, yes, you would cut through PA soldiers with really high tier weapons, like you should.

I figure going up against PA with a 5mm Carbine should be like going against a Jadgtiger in a jeep.

I wouldn't say useless in New Vegas or Fallout 3, but not too good. I would definately like it to be buffed up and rare-er.

@ Legend - I think you like the jadgtiger, but you should use something that people actually know.

Unless they look it up on google and claim to know it, they won't know that it was a nazi tank destroyer... but now they do. It probally be a better bet to say a Tiger I/Tiger Tank, as it is definately more well known.

Speaking like no one knows of a Jagdtiger. Maybe some won't, and they just have to google it, see a picture of an awesome tank and then, in context to Ledgends post, you'd understand it's a powerful tank. And it's not hard to figure out it's a german tank either, the name sounds german and it has the word "tiger" in it, which, like you said, Tiger I and Tiger II had.

Of course it is easy to pick up the connection in the context it is used in. I just doubt there are many people who know what it really is. For those who don't here it is, http://www.achtungpanzer.com/jagdpanzer-vi-jagdtiger-ausf-b-sd-kfz-186.htm.

It is really bland and boxy I don't really like it, well I've never really liked any Nazi tanks so that makes sense. I prefer modern tanks to WWII any day.
