[Relz] Pozzo's Rise of House Telvanni v1.3

Post » Sun Sep 12, 2010 12:07 pm

There was a bug in 1.2 which I reported before but I'm not entirely sure that it has been fixed in 1.3.

In Tel Aruhn tower, there's a dark elf called Bols Indayn, who is a bit insane. When you talk to him he greets you with some random talk, which ends with a 'goodbye' and a journal entry saying that he probably isn't suitable to become the new master of Tel Aruhn.

The problem in 1.2 was that this greeting and journal update could be triggered at any time, even if Gothren was still very much alive and the player hasn't even joined House Telvanni. In which case it doesn't make any sense.

I can't check with my current character because he's already Archmagister but I think the bug is still there.

I've been playing through this some more, great fun! :)

I know you've toned down some of the rewards, but IMO Uvirith's Box is still a bit overpowering. +50 unarmored is already a lot, but along with that 30 sanctuary and 20 resist normal weaponry?

The +50 unarmored increased my unarmored skill from 110 to 160. Perhaps it's a bug with GCD but it made the armor rating of my unarmored mage go from 92 to 178, making him pretty much impossible to hurt badly (if, thanks to the sanctuary and resist normal weapons effect, enemies can hit him in the first place)! :o

The AR is an "issue" with the formula for calculating the unarmored AR - you can read it in the http://www.xs4all.nl/~dleijen/monk.html - when you have the skill at level 50, getting 10 more points will give you an AR boost of ~ 7 points, when you have it at 100 the same ten points will yield you a bonus of ~13 and advancing from 150 to 160 yields ~ 17 additional AR. The sanctuary bonus is nice, I admit, but is resisting normal weapons really that useful? The stronger enemies have weapons which ignore that resistance or are spellcasters...

I'm rather excited to realize that you're still working on this one. I haven't played MW in more than a year, but I might have to give it another go now that I've found a more recent version of this mod.

Sorry to say it but that bug is most definitely Not history. Brand new character, brand new to House Telvanni, got the previous message and journal entry before she even joined the house. Also one of Mistress Therena's thrawls by the docks mentioned something about taking over something as well - I reloaded an earlier save and just didn't talk to her again so I can't be sure. Currently just avoiding talking to any and everyone I don't know is connected with a current questline so I don't screw anything up in advance

Edit - opps look like I'm running 1.25 instead of 1.3... *sighs* How the hells do I miss these things...

 I've just seen it, and I can hardly believe it... V1.3 has only been released in October '09 and has already been downloaded over 1.400 times! Astonishing, considering that this is a niche mod. There are so many other great mods that would have deserved that accolade first: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=477, http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=127 or the http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=1491, just to name a few. I'm simply blown away by the support and popularity that RoHT has received lately.

Thank you, Karpik! RoHT is your baby as well as Pozzo's and mine. Also thank you to everyone who has helped create RoHT:
Thank you, Pozzo, Karpik777, Acid_Basik. Aeroldoth, Allerleihrauh, Alphax, amorilia, Anonytroll, Aorawn, Arcimaestro Anteres, Argent, Conquest Calvin, cyran0, Darkside, Daedra Lord, DemonXen, DivinePanda, dongle, Ely VanReen Soto, Elim Garak, Emma, Erstam, Farren Hayden, Froderick aka ElvisX3K, gaiusimperator, Gez, GhanBuriGhan, Ghostwheel, haplobartow, Harlequin, Jac, JOG, Korana, Lady Eternity, Layson Kaar, Lochnarus, m4444x, ManaUser, Master Sam, McMornan, Melian, MentalElf, Michael "HelioS" Bennett, NovemberRain, Olivares, Phijama, povuholo, Psyringe, Qarl, Rednave21, RedwoodTreeSprite, Rhedd, Rougetet, saleg37, Shon, SkyShadowing, SotiCoto, SpectreoftheSpectrum, Spiffyman, Srikandi, StarCon5, Stuporstar, tazpn, th3undon3on3, Turrican man, Tyraa Rane, Valre, Varana, Vorwoda the Black, Westly, Wrye, Wytch, wz, and Yacobi!
And a huge thank you to the community on these forums: you have been most helpful and supportive!

I guess I need to start work on v1.31 really soon now. A "hall of fame" mod shouldn't contain bug, even if they're minuscule.

Congrats on making it to the PES hall of fame.

Anyways, I'm stuck on the Dwemer laboratory quest.
Spoiler
I'm in Mournhold looking the the Imperial with the unfortunate name. I've searched the entire city and I can't find him anywhere. Does anyone know where he is?

I see that you have found my reply at PES. :) I had locked myself out of this Forum account for a couple of days, so I couldn't reply here.

I have begun to update RoHT. What I have planned for v1.4:
  • Add the possibility to spare Duke Dren's life. This has been requested by some players.
    Edit 2010-03-15 Status: Done
  • Add a NoM (http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3027) extension. There's not much to change, so this should be a quick and easy task:
    Edit 2010-03-28 Status: Done
  • Add a plugin that balances RoHT's armors and weapons according to http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6733 and http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6757. Both are rather old mods, but I've been using them for a long time.
    Edit 2010-03-26 Status: Done
  • Cleanse a candle from Telasero's lower level that I forgot to remove in v1.3
Edit 2010-03-10 Status: That wasn't a RoHT bug. It was a bug of Wogya's otherwise excellent http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=5156 mod. If you don't already know it, give it a try.
  • Alter the Telasero altar script and the script in Salus manor to cater for levitating characters.
    Edit 2010-03-21 Status: Done
  • Set the spell "Alighiere's Blood Thirst" to not "Autocalculate Cost" http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1045818&view=findpost&p=15346485.
    Edit 2010-03-23 Status: Done
  • Fix the Dialogue bug on the "Wizard for Hire" quest that http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1045818&view=findpost&p=15228938.
    Edit 2010-03-23 Status: Done
  • Fix a few Dialogue bugs concerning Therana and Dagoth Tureynul. (reported by Hakuroshi at TESNexus)
    Edit 2010-03-21 Status: Done
  • Fix the errors in Dagon Fel (also reported by Raym)
    Edit 2010-03-23 Status: Done
  • Fix the Journal entry that states the position of Endalos' tower. (reported by gaiusimperator)
    Edit 2010-03-20 Status: Done
  • Elaborate on the Journal entry concerning Tel Llarelah's position as suggested by Rex Little.
    Edit 2010-03-23 Status: Done
  • Investigate on the guards' greeting after Duke Dren's demise. On PES, Eddbeard reported a problem with it.
    Edit 2010-03-23 Status: Done
  • Edit 2010-03-20: Just fixed an oversight in the Telasero teleporter script. There was a 1 % chance that it wouldn't do anything.
  • Fix RoHT's impact on the Hlaalu Hortator quest as reported by coolioevan444 at PES.
    Edit 2010-03-26 Status: Done
  • Edit 2010-04-06: Just elaborated a bit on the dialogue topic "master alchemist". Now Llovyn Salvu will comment on each hint on the alchemists whereabouts.
  • Edit 2010-04-06: Added inbuilt support for Melian's Teleport Plugin and CDCooley's Improved Teleportation.
  • Update both readme files. After reading them again, I found a couple of spelling and grammar mistakes. In the modders' readme, information on the global var RoHT_PCKilledDukeDren also needs to be updated with v1.4
    Edit 2010-06-22 Status: Done
  • Run RoHT through TESTool this time to remove unneeded AMBI and WHGT settings.
    Edit 2010-04-24 Status: Done

That's all error reports I recall at the moment. If I have forgotten something, or if you have found a new bug, please let me know. I'm no friend of "bananaware" and frequent updates, so I'd like v1.4 to be the final, bugfree version.

I'd also like to hear your opinion about Alighiere's first letter: I know that it is cryptic, and it's meant to be. But is it already too cryptic to ever find the place it describes?

An NOM compatibility extension? Yes, please! :)
I can't play without NOM. ;)

Edit: I'm waiting for RoHT, and Uvirith's Legacy to get their next update,
and when they do, I'll make a serious Telvanni playthrough.
I haven't used this yet, but I will after the next updates! :)

^^ I'm going to let the latest hotfix do its work for a few weeks, and possibly release another, but it's almost bug free as far as I can tell, so the final version will be coming eventually.

Congrats on the Hall of Fame! All I can say is it's about bloody time! :)

The changes look good. I have a soft spot for Duke Dren myself. ;)

Thank you! :)

You're not alone there. When expanding that quest I wouldn't have dreamt that so many people prefer to let the Duke live. Well, it's possible to do so now. You'll miss out on RoHT's biggest quest, but who am I to judge? :)

I have also completed a couple of things on my agenda: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1045818-relz-pozzos-rise-of-house-telvanni-v13/page__st__150__p__15726826__fromsearch__1&#entry15726826 is updated to the current status.
I have also found a new oversight in the Telasero teleporter script: there was a 1 % chance that it wouldn't do anything. I'm not talking about the portal to Nueranar here; that's using the same script as any other one. It's the secret, slightly deranged teleporter that was affected.
I also stumbled upon another error report http://forumplanet.gamespy.com/morrowind_plugins_mods/b49690/20186302/p1/ Unfortunately, the poster didn't contact me, so he's probably still stumped on this one . And that's where I need everyone's help: I don't frequent each and every forum, so if you know of a problem with RoHT of which I don't, please tell me!

B

PS: I'll try to have a look at the latest UL-RoHT-patch tomorrow.

This is looking good! :D

I've been modding continuosly for a long while.
After my current project, I'm going to take a break, and actually play
the game for awhile.

When this and UL reach their next versions, I'll play for House Telvanni.

My one problem will be which PC to use...
My Breton pure mage, Alistair Elden, or my Dunmer battlemage, Belos Llandri...

Choices, choices! Fun for all! ;)

Amen to that. If it weren't for modders' disease, I'd probably already be doing that.

I'm bumping this in hopes to hear of yet unknown bugs. Well, I'm not really hoping for bugs, but if there are any I'd like to fix them with this new version.
As you can see in the updated http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1045818-relz-pozzos-rise-of-house-telvanni-v13/page__st__150__p__15726826__fromsearch__1&#entry15726826, I have attended to most known issues which means that v1.4 will be ready for release shortly.

So: if you have even remotely heard of a bug in RoHT and aren't absolutely sure that I have it on my agenda, please post it here or in a PM. :)

I'm going to go through this thread more comprehensively after I finish Dragon Age and get ready to start my latest run through Morrowind. I really liked RoHT last play through. The only thing I was disappointed in was that when you help get the new tower built in the north (near Dagon Fel?) there was no functionality to it. No quests or follow up details. It would be neat if in a later version of RoHT the new tower served more purpose than eye candy (though it was nice eye candy).

v1.3 is that later version. :) You'll have a good reason to return to Tel Llarelah, however briefly it may be.
