Praise Talos, ESO forums are sub only!

Post » Sat Mar 29, 2014 3:24 am

It wouldn't take much to make some stickies that include topics like these:

  • When FOV sliders will be released
  • When info about consoles will be released
  • No, there will be no capes (Enda said NO CAPES)
  • What additional weapons if any will be released.
  • Info about guild shops
  • Information about additional servers

Other things we won't have to deal with anymore will be posts about why I can't log in (when the game clearly says it's not in session) or posts about when the forum will go live, or timezones or anything else of that nature. Stickies should be able to answer most questions to stop the enormous amount of the same types of posts being posted, again and again on the same day bu different people that want to be spoon fed and simply can't be arsed searching, or even looking on the next page for answers.

Thanks for the link. Have not seen that site yet.

Played Daggerfall but did not pay a lot of attention to the lore at the time, and it was a long time ago.

And you actually think this is going to stop complaints and trolling. It really isn't.

Same emperor from Daggerfall was the one killed in Oblivion, too.

UESP.net is the best friggin wiki for TES. Not sure how well they'll do for ESO, but I'm hoping they manage to pull off a WoWpedia.

For reference, if you're looking for Warcraft lore and dungeon/raid information, zone quest outlines, etc, you go there. It's the single most detailed, in depth video game wiki on the internet. I still go to WoWhead for quest outlines when I get stuck on something, but there's articles on zone progression and storyline on WoWpedia, as well as class/race information, lore, history, etc.

It's great. Hoping UESP can pull that off with ESO.

"Talos" is a name from real-world mythology; D&D's use of it was nothing new, nor has it been the only RPG franchise to do so.

I agree somehow... if they leave it open, many gold sellers will create multiple accounts and advertise. But if its restricted, they can easily identified and banned.

Other than that, I believe people could have a small corner to post their questions.

Talos is not born yet. Anyway, he is not a god.

On topic, I don't know how other forums work but it's nice that it's subs only.

Unfortunately, it also prevents those of us that have to wait & save from keeping tabs on the game & asking questions.

Yes, there should be. That's one reason why I was hoping they'd keep these forums open. T.T

Not really.

There's community sites all over the place.

Tamriel Foundry being one of them.

Considering the delicacy of TES lore, the amount of TES lore and how fast the UESP community keeps up with it, EVEN though it heavily relies on us rabid fans, the thought that something simple as an MMO might cause any trouble never crossed my mind.

^ This. Tamriel Foundry is a great site, with a lot of information available to those who want to learn about the game before deciding if it's for them. Their forum is good, too.

As others have said, I generally avoid "official" forums; Bethesda has always been the exception.

Let's dance and worship Talos, even though he doesn't exist in this time. :P

Cool but does it really matter? Most of the haters on this forum preordered, most of the haters on the new forum will be buyers/subscribers.

I never even considered that it would be any other way. Only those who pay should have a voice.

I'm looking forward to the state of the forums in the second month of subscription.

We know. It will cut down on it, but people will ALWAYS complain simply because of human nature. :D

There are other web forums where they have sections devoted to this game. I've even seen the exact same thread I've seen here appear on them. mmorpg.com is only one example.

No. It needs to be as it is. It ensures that people who have never played the game cannot come in and derail a discussion with rants about how MMO-X is better or some other stupid thing.

Everyone just needs to be prepared for when ESO gets its free to play option, and the forums open up to everyone... :P
