I love the Police Pistol...if they'd only fix the skin to put in a rear sight

The pistols the Police Pistol is based on do not have rear sights or have a trench rear only.

Good Old Reliable or Amercan Jigsaw Puzzle.

Well for unique names anyways. Military pistol or maybe service pistol?

Based on the Colt Commando I believe. However, it operates in single-action only?

More likely the Colt Police Positive. Or the Colt .357 based off of it. It was a double action, but I think I recall Josh saying somewhere they used the single action animation. It is much easier to accurately fire a double action that way.

Oh, my sweet baby carrots. That seems like it would hurt you as much as it would the thing you're shooting at. You know that Youtube video where the girl shoots the Desert Eagle, and it pops up to break her nose? This thing would pop up and break your face. OW!

how come there's no improvised guns like zip guns and pipe rifles? seems dumb that fully functional guns are a dime a dozen after the bomb.

They've both got some very serious muzzle brakes on them to reduce the felt recoil. Also, the Thunder was built more to sell it's recoil dampner system. No one bought the system or the weapon and it was only a developmental model shown in 2004. But still, I would have loved to shoot one.

It looks like you based it on Colt service revolvers from the '20's - '40's like the Police Positive Special.....while the sights on Colt revolvers were kinda on the crude side in that era they did have them, even if the rear sight was more or less just a groove milled into the top strap of the frame. Which would be good enough for me....I just want to be able to see the front sight when I'm in iron sight mode.

I recently fired a S&W 2nd model in .45 colt for the first time. Same sight set-up, blade and groove. The blade stuck up about a half inch above the groove and I never did figure out the correct sight picture for the damn thing. I couldn't hit crap with it. At least vidya games automatically give you the correct sight picture/sight alignment.

Yeah... but didn't you say yourself that's it's essentially .50AE? I know the .50AE is probably leaning more towards subsonic than 9x19, but... well... I've never seen a can on a Desert Eagle. It doesn't matter though, I'm just groaning because I want a silenced 9mm.

.50 AE is a supersonic round, I think the highest velocity for the .50 AE is out of the 10" DE at 1,600 FPS. And between 1,300 to 1,500 FPS out of the 6' barrel

Never seen a silencer on a Desert Eagle? I can fix that for ya! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58c-zuwFwzQ

Fella took a 10" barrel and cut it down, threaded it and put a silencer on it. I believe somewhere in the comments the creator mentions that with a silencer it makes it possible for a weaker round to properly work the action on the DE.

He's also got a dot sight fixed on the barrel of the gun, and it sit back a little bit above the slide where the casing ejects and it's deflecting off of it. The DE is supposed to eject the cartridges over your shoulder, but sometimes it does hit your head.

there you go not really pratical but then again i have no idea the onlly wepons i have actually fired in my life where in the army (in Portugal we had a to endorce in the army it was mandatory, for 1/2 year) and in here our millitary guns are somewhat ridiculous compared to the US our millitary issue hand gun is a Walter 9mm mine was older than me and was used in the colonial war in africa like in the late 60's earlly 70's, our service rifle was a G3 7.62x51mm allso older than me and bouth by Portugal in the same time 60's earlly 70's

It's a rare occurrence, and usually happens when you let the gun twist when it recoils.

Admittedly, it's a minor point but it's irritating, especially since the Police Pistol is practically the only handgun I carry once I'm back from the Sierra Madre so I'm always using it. Bring her up and there's this big square blocking the target. I'd like them to fix it so the Cowboy perk applies at least....if the 'modern' pre-war revolvers like the .44 Mag and Hunting Revolver get it, then why not a design that's far older?

Caught a .50AE case with my face once....hit me right on the bridge of the nose so hard it drew blood. Wasn't so interested in firing it after that.

One of Obsidian's programmers was a tank driver in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany and later deployed to Iraq in the early 90s. His issued sidearm was a beat-to-hell Ithaca M1911. If you know your M1911 history, that should give you an idea of how old it was.

Matter of fact, just the other day I was shooting Deathclaws with a sawed off Winchester 1887 Shotgun... and that gun was 394 years old :disguise:

Properly maintained military hardware can last for a while, partly because so many of the parts are replaced at some point.

improperly maintained firearms . . . and well . .

I acted as the marksmanship instructor for my battalion when we transitioned from the M1911 to the M9. Some of the M1911s we had in the armory were so bad that if you shook them too hard the slide would fall right off.
