Praise be to Vinegar Ra... and his jewelry!

Post » Tue Jul 27, 2010 3:47 am

Hi all. As you may or may not recall, I've taken up a jewelry class. I asked for some ideas a while back, and one of the ones that everyone agreed on was the Amulet of Vinegar Ra.

Well.... I finished it! I was originally going to go with an inlay to make it look more like the original symbol, but I didn't know enough about rocks, so I tried using a piece of jade that was too hard to grind into an inlay. So I wasted quite a bit of money because now my jade is smashed to pieces, and I didn't have anything green to inlay with. So instead, it's all metal. But it's done.

http://s912.photobucket.com/albums/ac324/Deffers/?action=view¤t=P9140004.jpg Behold its splendor! You guys can't say I'm not a dedicated High Priest of the Cult of Vinegar Ra, that's for sure.

I know, I know, it's really hard to see the design, but I'll post some better pictures later.

So what do you guys think? You like? Does the link even work?

Not bad at all. The Jade would have made it pop but you did good. :tops:

I'm sure Ra approves.

(I'm just thinking, with all the new members we are getting now, d'you ever wonder if they wonder what the [censored] we're talking about?)

See, but the time I would have spent working on grinding down the jade (which is all super-hard, even the softest pieces would have been iffy) I spent instead on making the amulet super shiny. That's why it's hard to photograph.

EDIT: Turns, I don't wonder. I know. I actually baptized, yes, baptized, one of the new ones. Or told him how to get himself baptized in the cult of vinegar ra. It involved vinegar and sea salt potato chips.

I wasn't joking, and I still have the PM. Well, in the PM I termed it "initiation," if that makes you feel better.

V-Ra is, indeed, happy. He told me so when I noticed one of the AA batteries on my desk was slightly askew.

It seems my double post entered a temporal warp. It must be the powers of Vinegar Ra at work.

I just... baptisms? I'm scared some of them actually believe in it.

The prophet of Vinegar Ra speaks! Yay!

Also, by baptism, I told him to go out and get some vinegar and sea salt chips or to down a shot glass of vinegar. That too religious for ya, turns? :P

Maybe you can use all the smashed up jade to make pills to grant yourself immortality?

Its more the thought of a rational human being possibly actually signing off BGSF, and then solemnly entering his kitchen, and then downing a glass of neat vinegar.

Then he looks around guiltily, and goes to work the next day resuming his business reports in his cubicle, guilty because he knows his straight talking boss would disapprove of him downing vinegar and worshiping a space-birdman-flavour.

What do you think the penalty is for interpreting the dreams of a sleep deprived forumerinspired prophet? I'll probably get off with ten years in a California gulag, but Defaulted having carried out baptisms and constructed actual frigging relics, he's going to get killed by scientologists as a possible rival.

"He who wears the necklace of Vinegar Ra shall be his vessel in the end times, and upon it's commencement He shall lift all his vinegary disciples, trapped in the kitchens of man, from their cabinets of oppression and float upwards peacefully to His kingdom amongst the stars."
Defaulted 8:1-36

Also, I'm curious, how did you explain to your teacher what the symbol was for? I can only assume (and hope) you didn't tell her the real answer. :P

As far as she knows, it's just a thing.... just a thing I came up with. Well, I did come up with the idea of putting a circle around it, so...

Hell, the teacher liked it so much this is going to go to an ART SHOW.

I'm, like, super nerdy, and this is the first time I've actually made something that has enough artistic merit to warrant going to an art show.

Shows the power of Vinegar Ra. Also, this thing is shiny enough to bring down airplanes. Again, power of Vinegar Ra.

OK, if we're gonna make a Vinegar Ra bible, we might as well do it now.

The Vinecronomicon.
