Pre-Load for ESO?

Post » Tue Feb 04, 2014 6:53 am

Will there be preload for PC for those who order digital?

Because I understand its like 60 gigs so would feel much more confident if I could download the client like a week before early access

Thanks

I'm sure there will be, nothing big digital comes out without pre-load these days, and they have to have patching infrastructure in place to patch the game whenever they need to.

As above, it would be really odd to be the one game not offering preload.

I have heard that the beta worked that way. You just grab the installer and it downloads the rest of the data over time.

One thing that might put your mind at ease about the size of the download...

The current download is around 20GB but to download and install it you need ~40GB free.

Pre-load?

I could download and install the client right after purchase.

Does OP mean something different?

You will be able to get the client when open beta comes along; no worries :)

Because you have access to the beta.

I have no idea, but in my experience with other betas they recommend reinstalling a beta client entirely and replacing it with the release client, and you generally are told to only use beta clients from a certain point (usually if any beta can be upgraded to release, only the open beta client can be upgraded).

I'm not sure about everyone else here, but I can log into my account on the ESO website and download the client... I have been in three beta's so I don't know if that is why or not... but just sayin'... try setting up an account and logging in?

Depend, if its the closed beta you probably have to uninstall or more probably the launcher does it for you before downloading the newer version. The open beta might just be patched it its late in Mars.

Yeah it's because you were in betas. Everyone else has no download link.

In my experience when Beta goes to Gold there is usually a fresh install required but if the difference between the open beta or final beta and the true release is fairly small I cannot see any reason why an update could not be used.

[Edit] I also have the DL option on my account page but this would only be for the most recent beta files. How they relate to the final release is anyones guess
