Pre-loading on Steam please?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 6:16 am

Since the release date is quickly coming up on us (but not soon enough!) and I haven't found a topic on this in the Bethesda forums (though there might be one and I didn't search hard enough), I just wanted to toss in my hat begging for the devs/publisher to allow pre-loading of Brink on Steam before the game officially gets released. For those of us with slower DSL connections, this would be a godsend and we wouldn't have to wait in the sidelines while those of us with faster connections get to play soon after the game gets unlocked on Steam.

I do think there's a good chance that there will be a pre-load available for Brink though since Fallout: New Vegas had pre-loading before it was unlocked on Steam and I don't see why Bethesda wouldn't have one for Brink. So here's hoping that Brink gets a pre-load!

They said in the dedicated server FAQ that they are in the process of getting the pre-load option up. They don't know the timeframe, though.

My guess is in a few days.

Odd, somehow I completely missed that part even though I've read the FAQ before. I guess my excitement over the fact that there would be dedicated servers made me gleam over that.

Anyway: Pre-loading, woohoo!

One additional note before we get down to business — we’re currently shooting to have Brink available to pre-load on Steam prior to the game’s release. We’ll have more specific info on that in the days to come.

Sweeeet.

But I pre-loaded Portal 2 and I know first-hand the decrypting process takes FOREVER.

Feels like forever when you're sitting there panting, doesn't it? ^_^

Yeah tell me about it. Seemed like the Portal 2 decryption took forever even though it was just a few scant minutes.
