It's strictly due to the amount of spam the forum receives on a daily basis. The pre-moderation just ensures that posts are on-topic. If we didn't have it, there would be an incredible amount of forum spam about drugs, viagra, pr0n and other junk. (Not saying that there isn't a place for drugs, viagra and pr0n, just that it ain't here. ^_^)

We like all feedback, positive and negative. We only have a few simple rules (treat other members with respect, no flaming/trolling, and do not discuss other companies in a negative manner). Constructive criticism is appreciated.

Thanks for asking...

Yeah its seriously not a huge deal here with us guys. We all gotta play by the rules or else found ourselves being kicked out the door. Even the wastes had some form of law. Image
I told the Overseer of Vault 13 I'd give everything to save everyone, and so I did, I saved them all. Since then I've felt loneliness.

I thought this was the very definition of Irony:

Why not install reCAPTCHA for registration? phpBB CAPTCHA is pretty useless now and reCAPTCHA is superior in almost every way.

As an aside, what's up with all the Caen hate on the internet?

True but it still has a pretty high success ratio in comparison to others, no CAPTCHA is perfect, it's just down to how much it can stop.

phpBB is good if you can mod it to be, but I'm still an SMF supporter. :D

phpBB3 is probably the best of the phpBB's. Of course, I don't run any of my sites off that, costs too much for me :D There's nothing like a trail of blood to find your way back home

I say keep it. Machines are far better at finding out what a captcha is supposed to be than humans (a SIMPLE neural network can crack any captcha system -- are that's probably the worst method for breaking them). The best solution to eliminating spam (if cost is not an issue) is having a human moderate the first post by a user.

Pre-Mod is good if spam is an issue. Obviously it has nothing to do with critics as your post was approved. ;]

reCHAPCHA along with a few others can work. I have used them and it does not completely stop the spam bots from registering, it does stop them from posting. However with that said, gamesas.com is more of a hot target than my sites and I am not sure what version of phpBB3 gamesas is using.
