Pre-Order Issue

Post » Sat Jan 08, 2011 5:22 pm

Alright well I have been putting off pre-ordering to get some extra cash to do so and came across a problem today going to pre-order. I was going to get the Walmart pre-order bonus but went down to Walmart and was informed they do not do pre-orders at the store. So went back home went to there website to pre-order went to shipping options and for 1day shipping said it would arrive on the 16th.

My issue is I believe they still think it is being released on the previous date and not on the 10th so this is a bit of a debacle. I am not going to pay for 1day shipping to not get the game until 6 days later. It is already bad enough I would have to wait for the game to ship to me instead of being able to pick up at midnight.

Anyways anyone else pre-order from Wal-Mart notice this?

You can buy it from the store bro, tthe item is in the game box in the slip cover in front of the Manuel. All the new brink box's have the codes in them before they get shipped to the retailer. It's how all the fallout New Vegas items worked. They don't have to offer it at the store its just in the box.

Huh that doesnt really make much sense because then it's not really a pre-order bonus if you can just go to any store and buy it and it is in the game package you sure thats how it is? I have never seen any pre-order like this wouldnt make much sense since no one even has to pre-purchase the game in order to get the exclusive content.

Its a mass produced code so yea. Each retailer is sent their appropriate shipment. I never per order any game because of this.

So let me get this right your telling me if I just stroll down to Walmart at 12am may 10th and purchase Brink there will be a pre-order code within the game cover?

I am finding it hard to believe this since it defeats the entire purpose of pre-ordering a game not to mention I would be PO beyond belief if I did this and then didn't get my pre-order bonus I want.

You can NOT get it at 12am since I think thats only thing pre ordering gets you,but yea the code will be in the box. I have not pre ordered in 4 years,I have gotten BFBC code RDR codes and a lot of codes all in package.

Can anyone else confirm this to be true? I don't see this being the case with Brink since they are trying to reward the loyal follower who purchased the game before hand.

This is something to get you to buy it at another retailer really. Now if it were just 1 bonus and only at gamestop then maybe but its not. Best buys website says its in box as well if you look.

While it is true that, nowadays, most preorder codes are included in the game cases to begin with, it's not always the case. For example, at EBGames my Killzone 3 preorder codes were not in the case, as I had been told would be the case by the staff (something they were very surprised by, in fact).

Just be careful and don't go complaining if in fact your code is not included in the case if you didn't preorder... ;)

A bit off-topic, but are the pre-order bonuses bound to your account, where you get them on every character you create, or is it just one character's items?

What Wraith said - they're linked to your account (Steam ID, PSN ID or Gamertag), and valid any time you're playing using that ID.

I have contacted Walmart about it and just recieved an email back stating:

"Thank you for contacting Walmart.com regarding delivery of Brink.

We are writing to let you know that we received your request for information on the Brink w/ Exclusive The Spec Ops Pack w/ Bonus $10 Walmart.com eGift Card (PS3).

This item has a preorder promise which means it will arrive by the release date. At this time, our records have the release date as May 16th.

Walmart.com Customer Service does not have knowledge of release dates other than the street dates listed on the site.

If we have not fully answered your question or you have additional questions, please reply to this email.

Sincerely,
Walmart.com Customer Care
"

In which I replied this:

"Well I can send you links to your competitions websites where they have stayed up to date on the information regarding the product in discussion as well as the games actual website to show that the game is in fact being released on May 10th now. I would really like to purchase this product from you guys but if I cannot get my copy upon release date then I will have to take my business to one of your competitors.

Actual Website Article:

Gamestop:

Best Buy:

"

I just received a response this morning and of course they did not even respond to the subject in question the release date instead stating this:

"Thank you for contacting Walmart.com regarding purchasing the Brink w/ Exclusive The Spec Ops Pack w/ Bonus $10 Walmart.com eGift Card (PS3).

I would like to offer you a 10% discount off should you place your order or on your next online purchase for your inconvenience. All you would need to do is to place your next order then email us with the order number and offer of 10% discount and we will credit your account. We want you to know that you are a valued customer and we appreciate you.

Backstory of that latest reply:

Customer Services: "We don't know what's happening... What should we do?"

Manager: "Throw money at it and hope it goes away?"

Customer Services: "Okay!" *types up 10% discount email*

I know thats what i'm saying I responded to them saying:

"I appreciate the 10% discount but after showing you proof of the actual release date being on May 10th for the product in discussion will it be adjusted so that if I purchase the product from Walmart it will arrive on May 10th and not May 16th? If not a 10% discount isn't going to make up for having to wait an extra week to recieve the product and that is if I pay for 1 day shipping otherwise could be even longer. It is truly frustrating to have to deal with this issue as I would really like to purchase the product from you guys but if you cannot keep track of your own merchandises release details I may have to take my business to one of your competitors so that I do not have to deal with this kind of situation again and can get my products on the actual dates they are released."

Yeah I don't pre-order stuff, because where I live games are never sold out and they always seems to have the "exclusive" pre-order versions just sitting on the shelves, and it has been like this every time I buy games like these. So I don't really see the point in pre-orders as I can just drive to the store and pick up a pre-order copy without any hassle.
