Pre-Order Map Confirmed to Not Be Cloth

Post » Fri Sep 02, 2011 5:09 pm

There is no reason to be disappointed. People were told this from the very start, they just didn't want to listen. It was pointed out numerous time, on these boards.

Wait... so the map from the CE is different from the map from the standard preorder?

Grammar Police here. You should change the "I could care less" choice to "I couldn't care less."

Saying you could care less means you show a certain amount of care towards the subject; whether that care is a lot or little is not specified. You could, in fact, care a LOT about the subject, and by saying 'You could care less" you would be totally right.

"I couldn't care less," on the other hand, means you haven't the slightest care for the subject. Hence "couldn't."

He could mean that it is heavier than cloth.

It's not as if it's even a very good map, it's just a brown empty thing.

Why do you have the same option twice?

Very Much So
I could care less

That is unless you meant I couldn't care less? I'm not a grammar freak, but this is the single thing I will call people out on.

I never interpreted it being a cloth map. So to answer the poll, no I'm not disappointed and yes I'm still preordering.

We've known it wasn't a cloth map since it was announced. No surprise here.

I don't really care either way. It's coming as a free bonus for pre-ordering, so you can't particularly be annoyed if it's not what you expected.

I'm just going to put it up on my wall, so i don't really care what material is used, i'm fine with the poster paper.

Any ideas people? Just what is this "Heavier Material"?

This was comfirmed like a month ago. It's a "Synthetic Burlap Material" as stated a while back.

Same. I thought the Morrowind map was pretty cool, and I liked that it poster size. It was pretty decent as well, although it wasn't very useful as an actual map other than for generalizations.

I pre-ordered Skyrim for the actual game, but it appears that a lot of people on the forums feel that the paper map is the important part of skyrim

I actually plan on using mine for the game for reference of unmarked points of interest, the paper anyways the premium will be kept nice.

This.
It really gets to me how people can get so aggravated over something as trivial as a *free* map.

because some people, inlcluding me, were going to try using that map instead of an ingame map assuming that its detailed enough.

Don't we all get the basic paper map with the game anyway?

Besides, the material doesn't prevent you from using it. If you're careless enough to wreck it, that's not Beth's fault?

nords dont use "paper" maps. they use maps printed on the the skin of their fallen foes. since that is unlikely to be what the CE maps are made from the best we can hope for is burlap or leather or hopefully baby seal skin.

I'm not blaming him for anything, i want to know what the hell "heavier material" is. I'm paying for the game and taking the pre-order risk of it svcking. I'd like to know just what exactly i'm getting.

Okay, we know that its a "high-quality material w/ similar feel to burlap" and that it is "not cloth, its a heavier material". Does anyone have any ideas based on what it could be? if it doesn't have cloth in it i simply don't understand how it can feel like cloth. Does anyone know any kind of paper with this feel? And for the love of god burlap/canvas don't count, they are made using cloth fibers.

Seriously?

First of all, as far as I have ever encountered (I left NA in July 2010 so this may have changed) when you preorder, you have the option of canceling the pre-order at any time. Trust me, unless you have an employee willing to break street date, there will be word on the internet that it svcks - if it does - which it won't but whatever - long before you get yours. Just go in and move your money to something else.

Second, if it does svck, if the map was a cloth map, you would be able to console yourself with it? I would just be right pissed to even own the map if the game svcked that bad. Which I have high faith that it won't. If you were holding off but all of a sudden "questionable material map" made you hop on board... you're an easy sell.

I have a cloth map of some land in Florida, want to buy the land?

And dear God...

Everyone who preordered from a brick and mortar (and pestle?) store in North America, I'm fairly sure Europe, etc - gets the map. Not just the ones who dropped close to 3 times the price on the CE.
