This is disappointing to me. The whole reason i pre-ordered was to get a fantasy feeling cloth map. Now its being made out of "Heavier Material". What exactly does that mean? I suspect its heavy-duty construction paper. :\

Any ideas people? Just what is this "Heavier Material"?

They said Burlap material, which implies its a cloth. What annoys me the most is that i was mislead to think this, and now it seems the only way to get such a map is through the horribly over-priced CE.

This was confirmed a long time ago. It's "like" Burlap, but not exactly.

If its a polymer-based fiber-reinforced 'paper', I'll be fine with it.

Its probably NOT made of cloth cause it would break fairly quickly if moved around or not sealed in an air tight box. Therefor heavy material, also I am getting it off steam so I dont give a damn, hooray for useless posts right?

They NEVER said burlap. It has ALWAYS been burlap paper.

Edit2: On the subject at hand... No, I'm not disappointed at all because having read the original posts concerning this, it was NEVER mentioned to be "burlap". It was always "high grade material with a feel similar to burlap" (first link above) or "burlap paper" (Gstaff's original post).

That's actaully good news, because you know it's not going to be some thin peice of paper with a map printed on it. Unfortunately, I don't have 150$ to spare for the collecter's edition. I am pre-ordering though

He said it was a fabric similar to burlap. I assume this was joke, but just for the record it's not going to be construction paper.

Burlap like material implies its being made from plant fibers, not pulp from the trunk of a tree, the former being higher quality.

$150 is a waste of money. Unless it provides access to all DLC once they release, it's not worth if for the statue, book, and piece of heavy duty material. I like my game, I don't like losing money though.

I mainly pre-ordered the game because I wasn't sure how fast it would sell in my area. The map was a neat little extra. I didn't really care what it was made of (burlap-like material? i think). But I can understand your disappointment, OP.

Its says Burlap like material. Burlap is woven fibers from plants. Not paper. Burlap Paper is very high quality, but its unlikely we will see it. "Not Cloth" implies its something without burlap at all.

Seriously guys go to a frigging hobby store and either look at painting canvases or Burlap paper they both are extremely similar in quality and feel.

Yes, burlap and paper are 2 different things. Burlap paper (which is a thing) is a higher quality paper with a texture close to that of burlap. The map has NEVER been "Cloth" as you can see from my links.

"Like" can imply many things. You implied it to be one thing, although it isn't that unfortunately (for you). I couldn't care less. It'll be better than the regular map and that's good enough for me.

The "special" map comes with any preordered version, standard or otherwise.

Seemed like a pretty solid connection to me. If its burlap paper i will be quite happy, but all he has said is "heavier material". This is pretty vague is it not?
