If you have a download cap, Steam can be pretty rough on it. Steam doesn't risk weather slowing the game's delivery down in most cases.

If Steam ever dies off, there could be compatibility issues with some games. Steam is very unlikely to have Limited Edition, generally doesn't.

For Crysis 2 I'm probably going to stick with a gamestop LE pre-order.

Steam:

Steam overlay with the instant messaging and easy shift+tab stuff.
Steam support where they actually know English as a first language and don't handle eight different customers at once.
Usual Steam goodies. :)

EA:

Additional pre-order bonuses like desert camo and gold dogtags
... Ehhhh... EA Download Manager? Personally I think of svcks (or atleast worse than Steam) but whatever.
crappy EA Indian support that is handling 12 different support tickets while "fixing" your problem.

Both are overpriced at $60 so pick your poison.

Of course steam has LE, every pre-order does.

I know this has been mentioned before but I never saw a clear answer; will the Steam version come with a 64-bit .exe?

No-one really knows, but i'd say yes. Steam has fully supported 64 bit since last august, so games now come with the 64 bit .exe's. I'm assuming C2 will be no different.

Doesn't the EA store require you to buy an extension to be able to download a game for longer than a year?
