so I pre ordered... but was it worth it?

Post » Sun Aug 14, 2011 9:54 pm

with the game coming out 3 months from now, lately I've been thinking about pulling my pre order just because it's not on my priority list anymore,

I could use that extra 60 bucks for gas.

especially since this economy is totally not helping the job market.

/sigh

oh skyrim, why'd it have to be this way?

Why the hell'd you preorder when you have a bad money situation and you can't afford the 60 bucks and it stood a chance of leaving your priority list?

If you are in a bad situation with money at the moment, I would wait until the game is lower in price. Have to set your priorities.

lol, worth it? A tank full of gas or a laser-printed map on a piece of cloth... I pre-ordered mine, but that was out of pure excitement and I had the means. Anyone who pre-ordered the game for the map or a dinky statue can go ahead and set their wallet on fire cause that's about the same thing.

Unless, of course, those items have meaning to the person who will buy them. It's not about a fancy map or stylish figurine, it's about being a part of something.

Pre-ordering costs the same amount as buying it on release day, so how exactly is pre-ordering a game the same as setting our wallet on fire?

I really wanted to pre order the Skyrim CE but $150 is too much. Give me an option without the statue and I'd pre order in a heartbeat.

Better to be young than old

They both have their relative merits. I'm kind of in between so I get the best (and worst) of both.

On topic: If you don't think you'll enjoy the game then don't buy it, especially if the 'economic situation' is hitting your fifteen-year-old pocket so hard you can't afford fuel!?!

I wouldn't preorder yet unless you wanna snag the collectors edition before everyone else does, but for the normal game I'd just wait, you never know when a deal can come around like at newegg there preording skyrim for 20% off.

I preordered it. I don't regret it and I never will. But that's me. If you can't afford important things like gas, food, housing, stuff like that, don't preorder it.

You joined the forums- that's as "a part of something" as you're going to be for this game. Other than that- everything else just collects dust.

He never said he was getting the collectors edition. Only the $60 game. I'd just wait until it comes out. You can use the $60 dollars to drive to the gamestore and then---crap... I just spent my 60$ on gass to get here... :pinch: But seriously, just wait if your having financial problems.

It is worth it to pre-order, yes, but is it worth it to pre-order the CE? That's a different story... to most, including myself, it won't be. Still, I reeeally want that statue... :cryvaultboy:

Your priority list should be in this order:
1.Food, water, shelter, safety
2.Car/Job/House
3.Entertainment (Skyrim)

If you are living paycheck to paycheck and can barely make ends meet, you should NOT be buying none the less preordering skyrim. You should look at the basic essentials being met before buying video games or other entertainment. Its O.K. to wait a couple months when your job settles down and you are living comfortably.

Guilt is an important tool meant to stop you from making further mistakes and/or learning from previous ones. Use it. Not a good idea to allow a video game to take priority over life. Plain and simple bud. Not much you can do about that now though...

If you're still there, I pre-ordered on newegg with that promo code for $48. No tax, no shipping. Don't know if it's still good though.
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for $48
PS3 use code EMCKBJH97
Xbox 360 use code EMCKBJH98
PC use code EMCKBJH96

If you want it that badly, use that. Otherwise, you have more important things to do.

I'm still waiting for a nice CE to be made available for preorder AND I hope Skyrim doesn't look like green porridge the way Demon's forge does and I HOPE it doesn't freeze up every 30-50 mins the way Fallouts 3 and NV keep doing like clockwork. Time to ditch that god-awful engine and hopefully not use Unreal either(awful engine).

Ah...the irony, so you'll have it waiting for you on day 1 but you wont be able to pick it up since you'll have no gas lmao.

Don't feel bad, I just dropped $1200 on a new uber gaming rig to play Skyrim on with max settings and mods. Can't wait to break it in with Oblivion and hand me down this bucket of bolts to my kid, lol. I would have pre-ordered but the sites I looked at says shipping 11-11-11... screw that going to walmart to grab a copy and be playing 11-11-11 not watching the mailbox for a week while everyone else is raving about the game.
