Pre-Orders from Walmart, Amazon, and Steam

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 4:31 am

The spec ops pack and psycho pack will be unlockable later in the game. That means that the items in those packs will not be "pre-order only" bonuses, but a way to get the items earlier... You may want to pre-order somewere else now...

Edit:

http://twitter.com/brinkgame/statuses/48106017497681920

According to the developers the pre-order items are "not unlockable in game" This may change in the future so I suggest holding off on the pre-orders until more information becomes available.

I thought it was said somewhere that they are exclusive, not 100% sure though.

Technically, that would make sense, considering that in a leaked gameplay vid the Hockler was available for use. Not so sure about the Sloani/The Grin masks and the Dogtag/Janus tattoos, though.

yeah, I'd like to see a sauce as well. I was thinking about preordering from amazon to get the psycho stuff, but if not, I'll just go where the best deal is...

Yeah I pre-ordered on Steam simply because that's just where I like to have my games in case one of my PC's die.

Did a massive search of SD's twitter feeds, their forum, review sites and a general google search for anything related to pre-order stuff being unlocked later on and i came up blank so i think its safe to assume that at the moment we have no clue, all that has been said is that the packs are exclusive to specific retailers nothing more. It would seem a little silly for them to give the pre-order people stuff that the rest of us couldn't access in a multi-player game especially when you use EXP to upgrade your stuff (if you have to use a lot of EXP to get it if you didn't pre-order that would be fine with me), some might say because it would be a little overpowered but knowing SP they wont be IF this is the case.

Thankfully im @ work atm and i have a truckload of free time :P

If the guns aren't ''exclusive'' I don't mind, I just want the silencer, the tattoo and the mask - But I seriously doubt they wont be exclusive, like the silencers, they are just skins for the normal ones, and the GreenEye scope is probably just a green version of some already existing scope. The guns however? I don't know.. I never had my hopes up that high for them to be ''unique guns'' with their own stats

I'm not even sure what's said in the OP is true. No source, nuthin. Not bothered, Psycho pack is cool and I get it errleh :D
Seriously not bothered at all. I'm not going to cancel my order. I've been following Brink since 2009, I JUST WANT TO FINALLY PLAY IT!!! The pre-order pack is a nice little bonus, but nothing too major.

MAG pre-order came with an extra armor type and camos... which were patched in a few months later anyway. Doesn't surprise me here tbh.

The weapons were in leaked footage because it was a beta test. Exclusive weapons also have to be beta tested, because you don't want those that pre-order to have some huge advantage over players that buy the game later.

I hope it's true, because there still isn't info on the pre-order for Non-US, and I'd like to have one of those bonusses.

Would make sense for the balance's sake too.

There is a bunch of non-us pre-order info on the SD site, facebook page and twitter feed not to mention the retailers websites its just a matter of looking but from what i can remember Germany, Australia & North America have been announced so far but there is a general theme going on for who gets what with the exception of bestbuy.

Psycho Pack: Amazon, Direct2Drive & JB HiFi
Spec Ops Pack: Walmart & Steam
Doom Pack: Bestbuy & Gamestop
Fallout Pack: Bestbuy

If im wrong on any of this please correct me :D

After looking a bit on some sites I could at least find the psycho pack for my country, maybe I can find the other ones too.
You are right :celebration:, time for me to pre-order.

Crap, forgot about that. Thank you.

http://brink.wikia.com/wiki/Greeneye_Scope (I'm guessing PAX East guys got to see it too). I'm guessing it will be unlockable because it seems as if the Greeneye will be used as a night vision scope of sorts. That wouldn't be quite fair to players who did not get the Spec Ops pre-order pack.

Few quick questions guys:

Anyone has experience with ordering games from direct2drive that are playable through steam? How does it work? I get a key that I enter in steam or? If yes, when do I get it? I live in Europe, so if I order from European direct2drive site I get the proper (eu) version (if something like that exists in this game)? Thanks.

I talked with a gamestop manager in Fremont California who stated, "Only the Doom and Fallout packs are exclusive. The Psycho and Spec Ops items will be unlockable later in the game". That's my source, I don't have it in writing anywere, but it doesn't say anywere that these two pre-orders are exclusive. Also I've seen the green eye scope in one of the Brink video's which leads me to believe that it's unlockable.

Of couse I could be completely wrong. I know I'm waiting till the start of May before I pre-order just to be sure... Because I really want the psycho pack lol

The people at PAX were also given completely unlocked characters; all weapons, all abilities, body types, etc. So my thinking is that since the greeneye, and other "exclusives," exist in the game files they might have just been available in the demo they played.
