Hi. I recently resurrected Skyrim. I came across an altar that required an item (anything that has weight, apparently) to be placed on it. I've been trying to drop something onto it. Now I've got items scattered all over the floor, but none on the altar. I've tried standing back of the altar, I've tried standing on one side of the altar, but so far nothing works. How in the bloody hell can it be done?

Whatever button you push to pick stuff up is what you want. Hover your cursor over the object after you drop it then hold the button down and you'll be able to pick it up and move it around. (E for pc, A for xbox, X? for ps3) Doesn't work for very heavy objects but it works for most things.

Thanks for the reply, Krymzon74. It turns out that what I thought was the altar wasn't, and the actual surface that I needed to put something on was easier to place things on. In truth, I had forgotten that one can drag things around. I'll continue on, now.

Yeah your talking about that gate opening pressure late on the altar in serpents bluff redoubt aren't you. It's the only one I know of.


Pick up a bandit body or the hagraven body and drag it to the altar. Lift the body and flop It down on the table. Then stand on the table yourself and reposition the body to rest on the button. That will open the exit gate.

That stupid pressure plate. I remember the first time I encountered it. It took me the better part of two hours to figure out what I was supposed do there. That was a definite face palm moment for me in the game.
