Predict the problems with Skyrim.

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 5:08 am

Ok, so this thread is here so we can try to predict what aspects of the game we'll be complaining about once it's released. We need to accept that Bethesda can't make the perfect game. I genuinely believe the game will be the best in the series, thus becoming my favourite game of all time, although I think there will still be bugs with texture load-in, sub-par voice acting and combat which leaves someting to be desired.

Thoughts?

I think we will definitely see an influence from Fallout 3 on Skyrim, but only in terms of gameplay. This will probably cause much whining and wringing of hands by purists. I am curious if they will keep the old school leveling system or switch to something more experience points based.

CTD after CTD, and after 1 year the game will be patched to a playable state. And to be honest, I don't even care since I'm buying the game anyways and gonna play it till the flames come out of my computer.

I think that if you drag a body into an open door and then close said door on the body it will start to quickly breakdance, much like it did in Oblivion. Not that this is a bad think tho, I laughed at this for many days.

Bethesda is sued by the girlfriends/wives/significant others of any who buy this game for fidelity issues.

No, seriously now, I think that a lot of folks will be disappointed by cities not being populated densely enough, because I don't see realistic crowds happening in a game of this scale and type. Realistically speaking, put too many NPCs on the screen at once and you will get severe framerate issues.

Well if you think the game will be best in the series without knowing anything about it, it brings up many thoughts for me. So far we have just seen pre-rendered trailer.

I'll agree with you on the other points you brought up. I'll add my worries that they gave axe (or blunt weapon) to the skill tree again. Theme they've carried from Daggerfall to morrowind, morrowind to Oblivion. It also worries me that the fantasy element will be very low again, you'll be fighting against wolves and bears most of the time and visiting cities from our not so distant past in the landscapes of winter in Northern Europe.
I do hope they learned that level-scailing is bad for immersion, dungeon crawl rewards, artifact hunt and believable world.

EDIT: It also worries me if they put graphics before gameplay again.

I think it'll be the best because Bethesda have tried two completely different styles with Morrowind and Oblivion and they've heard the feedback from the fans. I think they'll strive to create a game which has the best aspects of both.

Why are we complaining about the game already?
I suspect that there will be some strange glitch that will make the game CTD when you enter a zone/start a quest. The only reason I'm going on the UESP when the game is released is to find out about glitches.
Otherwise it'll be somehting like the world being bland and icy.

My prediction: Guards will still be telepathic clones, though not as much as in Oblivion.

People will complain it gets too easy when you reach the higher levels because the game doesn't use as much level scaling as Oblivion.

It's a new in-house engine right?

I'm guessing lots of crashes and bugs in quests and AI maybe even some graphical glitches.

It'll [censored] old PCs. And butt hurted old PC users will complain like little girls: "Again all they emphasize is graphics, the game is dumbed down, story svcks, controls are awkward."

Bethesda will leave their trademark of bad animations in Skyrim (skating on the ground).

How can games on my Nintendo 64 have better animations? :(

Still excited, can't wait to see the first screen shots.

-Stealth mechanics probably won't allow for Sam Fisher like bare-handed stealth kills... much less interrogations. ...but I would of loved to go though a dungeon in Oblivion snapping bandits' necks.
-I'm saving a lot of vacation time that I have to use by the end of the year, so if there is a delay my vacation is going to svck.

People will complain that it's dumbed-down for the masses compared to Oblivion  (worst case scenario). I really hope Bethesda are taking us fans seriously since I've read some fantastic suggestions on this forum that, if implemented, will make Skyrim a masterpiece and not a disappointment.

This is something I've always wanted to see. It'd add a whole new element to the game and make the player feel like a complete badass.

Instead of a quest compass, there will be flashing arrows on the ground and your character can only walk 10 feet away from those arrows before he snaps back into position.

The sword fighting will be a series of combos that require the player to press 3 buttons and then watch his player do 20 strike combos that the enemy can't dodge or block.

Fast travel between cities will be mandatory.... MANDATORY! The world outside cities will only be viewable from small windows in the cities walls.

There will be only 3 suits of armor and 5 weapons available and they must be bought from shops or given from a quest, you can no longer take weapons and armor from fallen foes.

The main quest will move on in real time, the player can no longer deviate to do other things, the main quest is all that matters and once it's finished the game can no longer be played again, ever.

That's true. I think the people who loved Oblivion will love Skyrim, and the people who hated Oblivion and loved Morrowind/Daggerfall will hate Skyrim, as Bethesda will probably make the game similar to Oblivion.

They'd be stupid not to, really. Oblivion was a winning formula in terms of enticing the masses into buying a game from a series which was previously more for "hardcoe gamers". Some members here might not like it, but you can't deny that a game like Oblivion will sell better than a game like Morrowind.
