Curiously enough, I also accept that my favorite games have f... fl... flaws (there, I said it!). I'm not saying that the game doesn't have issues. I'm saying that the game being a dumbed down Halo clone that consists of one giant green field full of wolves isn't one of them. ;)

EDIT: Also, you know as soon as TES V is announced I'm going to be all over defending that. :P

Yo, don't diss Halo mothertrucker, I play that junk more than MW and OB combined.

EDIT: Just promise me when TESV has only weapon, magic and stealth as skills, and you teleport to every quest item and back, you won't defend that.

That's an easy promise for me to make, since I can almost guarantee it won't be at all like that. :P

As long as all the whining and crying in this forum doesn't go un-heard, I think we'll be okay.

RPG - Role Playing Game. RPG is not about dice-rolls, that's for sure. There are many good RPG sessions being played on the forums without utilising ANY dice-rolling or RPG system rules.

But that's off-topic. I still think that more options should be added to the pool. Preferably, we should be able to pick things we liked from each game, so it should be possible to "tick" manual blocking and spell failure, for example.

People are acting like somebody just hit their dog or something.

Oblivion had some BIG issues. There were dialogue bugs, the quest markers were too frequently placed, many NPCs were essential when they shouldn't have been, people weren't discouraged from fast-traveling and therefore wrecking exploration for themselves, there weren't as many conversation topics.

On the same token Morrowind had some BIG issues too. The AI was rarely used, you couldn't use any of the furniture, NPCs would often get stuck in rocks and plants when following you, traveling was very slow (and sometimes tedious), and combat was boring after a while.

Both are fantastic games where you play the role of a person in a land unlike Earth. Where Gods and Daedra reach down daily to affect mortal life, where magic flows from the hands and minds of those who use it, where ancient runes lie everywhere, and with them stories. In fact of the games are so similar, it's actually VERY funny that people fight over the small differences.

Edit: And things aren't all going to fall apart in TES:V... at least I hope not.

Sorry, I'm surprised the mods haven't brought the hammer down onto this thread.

I enjoyed Oblivions better. I hpe that Skyrim goes more in depth with it though. Make it like actual sword fighting and such. I do not care much about how Magicka is implemented. It is realistic either way.

A separate bashing team for TESV would probably come up, and they, the Oblivion fans, and the Morrowind fans will all be at war (like the different super powers in 1984, or the houses in Morrowind). Sometimes with double-bashing, sometimes a three-way (no innuendo intended).

Yeah, I don't think it will be Morrowind and Oblivion vs. TESV. I think it'll be some crazy, hellish free-for-all. Daggerfall and Arena didn't have the tools to keep the game fresh and to improve upon it properly. That's why the community died. there wasn't much need for it, apart from random chat. Morrowind has a CS, and a still massive fanbase that's still completely active. I mean, it has it's own forum.

though, I have to admit, I'd rather we teamed up against it. I can just imagine getting lost in all the bashing, defending and ranting about games everywhere.

I'll have to join the neutral party, unless TES 5 is just really bad.

If they learn from the mistakes they made in Oblivion TESV could be really grand. Engine is already considerably improved over the version used in Morrowind and it will only get better. This means not only better graphics, but even more importantly - better AI and optimization. I feel that "Radiant AI" used in Oblivion was just a dumbed down version of the system they tried to create.

All they need to do is to AT LEAST stay on course set by Shivering Isles when it comes to lore richness and game-world variety. Of course, it should be done on a greater scale.
