PLEASE KEEP THIS THREAD POSITIVE
I really like the fact in Skyrim that we didn't have to choose attributes at the beginning but we were allowed a bit of time to get a feel as to which direction we want to take and attribute points were added as we level. There is nothing worse than getting hours into the game and regretting such an important decision and having to stick with it or start all over again.
The idea of star signs being received from places of worship / shrines is also something I really liked as opposed to the older way where again we had to stick with an early and often inexperienced decision.
I do think that the attributes for the next TES need to be covered much better and in greater depth as in Skyrim it was far too basic. The three choices didn't even cover the three opposing directions of gameplay (warrior, mage & rogue). Choosing attributes in one of these three directions should hinder performance in the other two areas giving us the need to consider more carefully. In Skyrim this worked between a mage and a warrior with magicka and stamina but a rogue was completely left out. I also felt a mage was not covered very well and was too weak early on. Magicka should not run out so quick but should concentrate more on the level and strength of spell much like combat did. A mage running out of magicka is totally non-effective whilst a warrior out of stamina can still strike.
I also think more should be put into making a rogue a much more unique character direction rather than just a light armored warrior that sneaks. Even light armor should hinder a pure rogue and more should be achievable through agility (inc. acrobatics to dodge & climb) or personality (charm).
I have read some of the negative posts in other threads and I do not feel it is a lack of the old system but a more advanced newer system needed that still allows us to build as we require more knowledge and get an idea of the game we are playing.
