I wonder if the next few hours will be more of a load on the Steam Servers than Release Day is....

Usually the whole kit and kaboodle is encrypted tighter than Fort Knox. Good luck to you though!

There is only the Steam version.
But you can buy it from different places.

I know that. I pre-ordered from GameStop. Oh well.

It is a possibility I guess, but everything is very smooth so far. I already have over 25% of the game pre-loaded since I started. Maybe not many people have noticed the pre-load option yet. . . .

I'm holding pretty steady around 1.7 MBPS download speed right now...

On the Saint Louis server IIRC.

...I think I saw a STL server at some point and set my client to that...

That is the same exact download speed I am holding steady at. Steam has gotten better and better about not having their servers overloaded during major releases. Their own major releases (Valve) still seem to set off atomic bombs across their server networks.

Sorry if I'm WAY behind, but how are they the same versions? if i buy it from gamestop does it get added to my steam account, and if so, why not just have given out randomized packs or something?

It is activated through your Steam Account. However the Pre-Order Bonus code will be in the box with the game so you will get the content that you are expecting.

As to why we could not just pick our Pre-Order bonus independent of the store we pre-ordered it from is another disucssion for another thread.

So, yes, the game itself is the exact same, the optional preorder bonus content is different.

Yes, as the title says preload is now available on Steam. Just restart the Steam and preload your game. :) It is 6.9 GB.

Thanks for the heads up. :)

Downloading now. 24% done. Cannot wait to finish then the long wait until Tuesday.

Also 6.9GB of space isnt too big GTA4 is over 15GB. That took a while.

I know it's a bit late, but I still haven't decided if I want to preorder through Steam or Gamestop (EB games) yet... :(

Steam is so convenient...

I had that dilema also, i preordered at steam and gemesstop.....

steam = easy download and binoculars special item

ebgames= canteen + i had to go there for the guide at midnight anyways....

I ended up going with ebgames for the canteen.... luckily steam let me return my purchase because it was a preorder....

good luck!

Well it certainly didn't take very long, I was assuming a ton of people would have bogged down the server a bit, but not according to my peak download rate! :)

I'm surprised even EU Steam gets preload now - maxing my crappy ADSL @ 700kb/s ... but I guess I have a few days anyway :(

I was just on the GS website because I'm thinking of buying the digital version for the classic pack (while I wait of my collector's edition that Amazon refuses to ship until the 25th! :banghead: ) and it says the digital version is available for download now with activation at midnight tuesday morning.
