I'm still undecided if I should buy the 360 or the PC version, I liked that Fallout 3 had GFWL support, but Steam is a great service now, so, what would you recommend? In a year I'll buy the GOYE but here it's not available for the 360 nor the PC. I have both the 360 and the PC version of Fallout 3

EU release is friday.
Steam is one of the better providers about not violateing release dates.

If you have a PC that can run New Vegas well, get it for that platform. There will be mods and you'll be able to tweak it to your tastes. Plus the PC version is cheaper than the console version. If you have a PC running FO3 already, I'd say it is a no brainer.

I know. I still have Steam open with New Vegas selected in my library, even though I'm not using Steam or planning to play a game with it. I just like tabbing over to it every so often to see New Vegas sitting there . . . 100% downloaded . . . .

Quick question, I just prepurchased the game (1/2 hour ago) from Steam and I'm preloading it now. I see in the Steam window a notice from 6/10/2010 that if you prepurchase the game, you get the Caravan pack. Does that still apply or was there a cutoff date that passed?

No. I'm talking about playing other games I already own in Steam or using Steam's community features RIGHT NOW. I'm basically just staring at the game sitting on my harddrive and drooling is what I'm saying.

I just noticed that I can find out a lot about New Vegas by browsing the game directory in my SteamApps folder, even though the game is encrypted. I can see all the song lists, and for instance I just discovered that there are apparently TWO different sets of credits for the game. One labeled normal credits and the other called 'wacky credits'. And . . . oops. Apparently you can spoil how many towns there are in the game from the list of their music directories. Also there are folders labeled 'evil music' and folders labeled 'good music'. Curiouser and curiouser.

Steam noob here, but if I'm buying the CD version, can I still preload it now so I don't have to install on the day of release?

LateWhiteRabbit,

didn't know, I've never used steam before.

On the other subject we've talked about, Gamestop's website says the game will unlock at 12:01 am on the 19th, PST. I was trying to get conformation on this issue myself but, threads keep getting locked.

hope it's true and, sorry to the moderators if this is not something I should be talking about. I'm not trying to be bad! :brokencomputer:

Only if you already have your CD-key to register it through Steam, which I'm guessing you won't have until preloading no longer matters.

I too would like more information and discussion on the unlock time question, and share your frustration at the threads bringing it up getting locked. The Mods seem to want everything Steam related to stay in one thread, so I guess this one is it.

Just wanted to point out that there are 48 radio songs total. I hope nobody thinks that is a spoiler, because if they did, I would probably facepalm.

I'm still going to my local stores midnight release to snatch up my CE both the game and, guide but, I will be sorely disappointed if I can't start to play.

edit: just want to hang out with other game geeks like myself.

Ha! I just noticed this from my file snooping and brought it up in another thread. That is over double the songs we got from GNR radio in FO3. Almost double even if you count the Enclave instrumental songs. Divided between 4 radio stations, that means 12 songs per station, giving us a reason to spread our 'listening' around this time. Of course, I can't wait to mod some Elvis songs into the playlists!

Any thoughts on the two different credits files? One normal and one labeled 'wacky credits'? There is so much to be discovered just by browsing through the Steam directory for the game.

Well, I gave in and preordered/preloaded on Steam. Now I gotta wait until Tuesday... It will be especially hard with the damn icon staring at me.

probably has to do with the wacky waste perk, not sure I'm trying not to read spoilers.

I didn't think that the Wacky Wasteland trait extended to the credits, but if it does, that sounds hilarious.

Yes, as the title says preload is now available on Steam. Just restart the Steam and preload your game. :) It is 6.9 GB.
