Preloading and McAfee

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 11:35 am

Since preloading Fallout 4 on Steam Mcafee has been saying my system is unprotected. This seems to be because of a never ending scan process. When I try to tell it to scan on demand it says it can not perform a scan at this time.

I started looking for a solution this morning when it occurred to me that I didn't get this message until the preload. Is anyone else having this issue? I was thinking maybe since the files are encrypted Mcafee can't scan then and is getting stuck. If this is the issue I figured it would clear itself up on Tuesday morning.

I would honestly get rid did of McAfee. Use Windows Defender or MSE.

I love BitDefender - never had problems with it and it has protected me from all sorts of crap.

Yeah, it probably has something to do with encrypted files. Is there an option that you can set up so it just won't scan the steam folder?

You should report this as a false positive to McAfee.

Thanks for the input everyone. I'll likely wait until Tuesday and see if it solves itself with decryption before fiddling with the trouble shooting.
