My premature review.

Sorry. Phantasy Star Online 2/Dark Souls won't be the second coming of anything.

Except Phantasy Star Online, thus the "2" after it.

EDIT: Damn ninjas.

I think it should be noted that it is probably not wise to post about working for a retailer and taking the game early on the official forums, lol. a street-date for a game is set by the publisher not by the retailer, and your job isn't allowed to tell you you can break it. as someone who works for a brick n mortar retailer, i understand the temptation, but don't be dumb.

or actually, be dumb. tell us the retailer! once the date is broken by one, most of the rest are usually given permission to break it.

Guys stop discussing otehr games before this gets locked down. Look BRINK is going to be an above average game that may or may not get the right reviews because of al thats happening.

One thing ive learnt is the majority of people who get the game early will give it bad reviews, this happened with halo 2 as well. This may be bcause the people who get it early are the ones who overhyped it to the extreme which is why they put the effort in to get it early or it could just be a coincidence. Either way everyone is entitled to their opinion as others are entitled to disagree (even though most of us havent played it and cant really argue effectively).

We know there is a 360 release day patch coming out which claims to solve graphical and networking problems, so its unfair to comment on the 360 versions graphics right now. To be honest gameplay clips I saw looked fairly good anyway. As for AI i'd like to know what difficulty those bots were set to (unless that was mentioned and i missed it :/ ) However I plan on playing the game with a full team of 8 online against other people, so bots arent a big problem for me anyway and ive played with some pretty heinous bots in my time and still enjoyed it.

The only real issues that concern me are Gameplay - do all the features spoken about work, are there any easily exploited flaws, are the maps and objectives interesting enough to keep you immersed for a whole match - and Networking - I go into a game expecting some lag, I played halo 2 back in the day against all kinds of distant peoples and still enjoyed the 1 in 4 or so games that had a good connection so I can put up with it being far from perfect, thats just a part of console gaming. Unless I get host :D .

In the first case, ive seen videos explaining how the games objectives, movement system and general gameplay works and im happy, or at least happy with what ive seen obviously without playing the game myself I cannot be satisfied. In the second case, ive got no choice but to wait and see what reviews come in once the games released and how it feels once i get my hands on it myself.

Basically what im saying is, im waiting for some reviews from gaming review sites and magazines and to just get hold of the game myself.

So you would rather wait for reviews from sites that are paid money by the publisher to give games good reviews?
Best to just hold off and judge for yourself.

Mmmhm. Cause EVERY good review ever has been paid for. :shifty:

Although yes, the only review that should matter to you is your own, its nice to get insight from the critics :3

Ive been playing games long enough to know which sites gives reviews that I tend to agree with. I dont mean im gonna be checking every site. An I refuse to believe that every bad review was cause the developers didnt shell out some cash and every good review is because developers were generous.

Cheers viking, maybe on hard youll get a bit more of a challenge?

You can't really judge a Xbox360 Brink because the D1P is supposed to fix lag and texture.

at the very least they should be good for practice, but hopefully they offer an actual challenge, even a small one.

Am I the only one to think he is fair about the graphics?
He said that he knows a patch is coming for them and stuff, so I don't think people have to always go on about it.

I think its a legit worry to have, for me Brinks graphics were one of its main selling points, I loved the unique hyper-real style they had going on. Call me a pessimist, but I think people are putting too much faith in this patch. (Thats going on the assumption that all these people saying the graphics are bad are actually right)

A patch is a patch, and to fix a whole games graphics... would have to be a pretty big one.

Just saying is all.

I'd bet good money when he said the graphics were bad it was just because of the whole texture rendering thing.
Im going to assume you've seen the recent videos, so you should know that it all looks solid. No need to worry your little dwarven head :3

Come on Ppl have a mind of your own I think the Review was fair in away but honestly he is saying what every other player said. First people are gullible just cause some says they have the game does not mean the really have it.
It can be some kid who watched videos and just saying what he thinks about it. Once again look at his join date??? and the AI are bots and on those videos they are showing the AI on easy and medium there not suppose to be super hard????.
I honestly think everyone making xbox 360 version seem as if it is horrible ppl just rember every game you followed they always say the 360 version is crapy graphics I just think those are PSN fans with nothing better to do. I just think this game is going to be a great game if your looking for a team tactical game if your looking for COD play COD

my paranoid side is thinking these leak vids and bad reviews MIGHT be a conspiracy to kill Brink before it can change the face of the Shooter forever! but maybe i'm just being TOO paranoid...or maybe not!!!

Fix graphics with a patch?

It had better be a seriously large patch then.

Very much doubt that will happen.

no....it doesn't need to be a large patch.....the graphics on the pirated 360 version and the illegally obtained normal copy of the 360 version are bad because of a texture loading issue. The textures are not being loaded into memory fast enough. It's simply coding to load the textures into memory faster, it isn't addition of more textures or assets....patch could easily be less than a few kb

Might I point out that playing a pirated version clearly won't be perfect; I'm surprised the multiplayer is even on.

Ps3 wont need the patch, there is a short review on the ps3 version of the game at the start of this topic, somewhere on the first page I think, It was fairly positive so dont worry.

I have never seen a video game forum so sensitive about a game, especially one they haven't even played yet. The guy gave a fair review and mentioned reasons why the game might be better at release than it is now. I think I'm going to hold off for a day or two before I decide to buy the game. Fortunately the Gears 3 beta lasts until the 15th so there's no rush to get a new game.

Pirated? Nope....full retail copy. Also I like how everyone is focused on the graphics and they supposedly don't care about them. I personally think that the lag is the biggest issue that might really hurt this game.
