I would love to see a detailed Morrowind style map!

Sounds good. But Bethesda usually do a map with their games anyway. I'll just wait for the normal one. Especially as I don't know what Premium really means.

...

What does it mean?

Early copies of the game will feature the premium map -- it's a burlap paper and a much nicer quality than the map included with Oblivion. If you don't pre-order, there's a chance your copy of the game will include a map that's more akin to what was included with Oblivion.

We don't have any information to share on a collector's edition for the game at this time. When that changes, we'll let you know.

Is the map coming in the box with your order, or will it be shipped separately? What I'm trying to get at is, will it be folded/creased or rolled?

Edit:
You might also want to update the OP with the type of map it is (and the blog).

I'll just wait and see whether there's a Collectors Edition, and whats in it, before deciding what to do

You can 'pre-order' a few days before release if needs be. There's no panic.....

If we preorder from steam do they send the map via mail?

I'll keep holding out for this, then. Just hoping that, if they decide not to putnout a collector's edition, they'll let those of us waiting know in time to pre-order...

Thank you for clarifying that Gstaff :) Will this apply to pre-orders from anywhere? For example; I do most of my pre-ordering and purchasing through Amazon. Will I still get this premium map?

Yes, it's what's going out to all retailers on day 1 worldwide. As mentioned already, once these copies are gone, you'll be seeing a more standard map packed in.

http://cdnstatic.gamesas.com/bethblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/3d_skyrim_wmap-v51.jpg Or is it going to be a different looking map? Because it looks kinda dull. Same brown looking thing like the one that came with a copy of Oblivion.

As mentioned, it's a different paper (burlap paper) from the previous maps. Also keep in mind that image says, "Final Product May Vary"

Done. Thanks!

Look a bit like the nice cloth map of Middle Earth that Codemasters were nice enough to send me :)

Edited post, I missed that part. Burlap paper sounds good. I guess it makes sense that it wouldn't be as colourful as Morrowind's then.

Could you add the size of the map to your original post? I've never seen the Oblivion map. Thanks. Added: Ok, I see the map under the boxes now...missed it at first. It seems about 15x20" to me.

I wish it was cloth. Since I want a Collector's Edition this time out, I don't know what I want to do.

So, do we have to preorder to get ANY map? Or will the non- preordered copies come with a map, too?

I'd like to know that too.

I want a map, but I don't want to preorder from a specific retailer.

No offense, but if you had bothered to read this thread your questions would have been answered. But I'll go ahead and answer you anyway..... If you pre-order from anywhere, not just a specific retailer. You will get a sixy burlap map. If you just buy the game later you will get a map made out of similar material as the one Oblivion had. Either way you get a map. :)

Glad that's cleared up, I preordered from the British retailer GAME way back in February, glad to know I won't miss out on a fancy map.

That's great news!
Although I'm really only waiting for a Collector's Edition to preorder. Hope we get news about that soon, too.

I'm sorry but I think you meant a burlap paper map.

Please no games for windows live. I thought bethesda learned with fallout 3. fallout new vegas didn't use gfwl.

The edges of the map seem a little ruffled so I think it's cloth. One can only hope.

And again, DROP GFWL!!!

I thought that would be obvious. A map made of burlap fabric would be a little ridiculous.
