Preorder Bonus?

Post » Sun May 30, 2010 4:34 am

I was wondering if there has been any talk so far of a preorder bonus? I haven't heard of one, but I am not subscribed to gaminformer (or any magazine for that matter) so I don't know if anything was said in one of their articles. I am preordering the game nonetheless, but it would be cool to get something extra. Oh yeah and sorry if this has already been posted before.

And thats my real beef with pre-orders and specifically the evolution into the multiple store pre-orders. Sure, most if not all of these items are usually worthless by mid to end game, but they could still be used for RP purposes and builds in general. That's why i dont like them. Fortunately Beth doesnt really do a bunch of pre-orders, except for NV through Obsidian. Could it be a view to the future of Beth's marketing?

Wait to preorder ATLEAST a month before release. The best deals, price wise and preorder bonus wise, usually show up closer to release dates. I'll wait up until a week before, unless a great deal pops up before then.

I'd bet my life on some kind of preorder bonus. It's pretty much a given these days. I don't like it, but it is what it is. I just want to see how the tie it into the story!

Oh no they do a lot of these pre order shenanigans. Hunted, rage, and even Brink which I bought recently all have multiple pre order packs. So when this does happen remember this post. Also remember you don't have to actually pre order just buy the game in the first month it comes out. Bethesda pre orders are not really pre orders their just store exclusives. I didn't pre order FNV nor brink but I have the bonus items.

Dawn of War 2 had alot of preorder stuff to offer one for each race and some race packs were only availible trhough steam or gamestop etc. Each race had its own preorder. I dont think this is such a bad idea its a way for the store to make money. If you hate it so much then dont preorder. if you want a set of the preoder bonus then do it. heck its $25 to preoder and you are going to get the game on launch day anyways so why not. Also cry some more its fake junk anyways. Its not like you can hold a septim coin in your hand or anything (wich is why im getting collecters as a preoder)

You can still get it if you use their web site they will email the code to you. BUT These preoder bonus stuff only really works if the game uses Steam or Windows Live or somthing like what Bioware has setup.

You would not get the items just for putting down the $ since Bethesda puts them in the box(on console). It's just a shame when they do two cool item sets like FNV and Brink then you can only get one unless you want two copies of the game. Rockstar is letting you buy all the PLC(preloaded content)for 10$ with LA nior(there is STILL no E bondi) which is what all game devs should do with this business model. Wait till 2ks financial holdings is released then we will start to see an option for the latter. Beth would have another 20$ from me right now from the FNV and brink stuff.

Edit:You think the forums are flooded with posts now wait until we hear about this nonsense. Spam will not begin to describe it. I will probably have to make a thread explaining you get it in the box, might have to make it a sticky with the way brink pre-order madness unfolded and with the way people on here listen. If your on pc you could just DL a mod though since its single player.

Depends. Now they moved onto the recipt if you buy in the store. (at least gamestop does) so you still get it. also you are guranteed to get it when you preorder as they set aside those boxes for the preoders. Also us saying what a company should do from us who dont run a company and have no real idea how a game company actualy works is a little silly.

Amen. Hyper (a gaming magazine) issue 204 had an article companing about this new marketing tactic - "Deaths to Salesmen". With one game people were bidding high prices for the store spefific preorder DLC on eBay after the games release, and then it was revealed they would all be released together in a DLC pack anyway anyway. It's quite a dirty tactic, I'd prefer they just stick to a collectors editon.

I just see it as having something for multi-player games and anything special being reserved to physical items. If they were to offer all the PLC for FNV right after lonesome road came out they would only get more money. So why limit it to pull me into a game I'am already going to buy and give me a better deal (more items) while taking more of my money.

I find it pretty natural that they would release the pre order content as part of a dlc later.
It would often not be any legal way to get your hand on the pre order content after the game was released. Worst case would be to download a pirated version of the game with the pre-ordered content included.

I dislike pre order content pretty strongly as it’s a way to get people to buy a game before it has been reviewed, the game could be rushed or simply be bad. Yes the pre order content can also be bad, but you also have no way of knowing before you get it :)

Use a pre order rebate instead as pre orders is safe sales for the company so I understand why they want pre order sales. However to many companies use them and the pre order bonus items as a way to sell showelware before it has been reviewed.

what?

Well real life items I can do without. In games items I HATE when those are given and often several stores will have different one so the only way you can have it all is to pirate the item or buy the game from 5 different stores. Dragon Age Origins was crazy with this stuff and I just hated it.

If enough people pre order the game instead of going us a code the release what's called a limited edition which is basically the first month the game is out it has the codes in the box like in NV. Preordering helps the companies tho both berhesda and gamestop.

Yea I as well dont like pre-order bonuses. I dont see a point to them really, so Im hoping Bethesda just leaves all pre-order items out of the game.
