Preorder in canada (EH!)

Post » Mon Jan 17, 2011 3:07 am

The holy day of Brink nears and i still have not pre-ordered, i know what your thinking.....tacos, or your thinking "WHY HAVE YOU NOT PRE-ORDEREDDDDD!!!!!"

Well that is because in Canada i cannot pre-order yet, i want the spec ops pack, and i have been waiting forever for my chance to pre-order, i went to a number of walmarts looking to get my sepc ops bonus, but no one had Brink for pre-order, this was months ago, i have not botherd to go to another walmart to try and pre-order because the offical brink website still does not show pre-ordering options.

So has anyone else that is in Canada, gotten to pre-order the spec ops pack from walmart? Or is there a date set for when people are able to pre-order Brink in Canada?

Canadian here. Never checked wallmart.
I'm going either with Steam for Spec Ops (Buy a Moneypak from 7-11 and use Paypal) or go pre-order at Best Buy for the Fallout pack. Undecided.
Also waiting to see if the game goes cheap anywhere before it releases. No matter which, I'm probably going to pre-order the day or 2 before its out.

I'm Canadian too, and I'm going to preorder from Steam as well. I'm also waiting to see if they put Brink on sale before release or something on steam, basically have the money but holding off until closer to release.

There is no pre-order from Walmart in Canada, not online or instore.

From what I understand, the initial shipment will include the pre-order bonus pack. Once those run out, you will no longer be able to get the bonus packs.

Besides, if you think about it, the items in the bonus pack can't be too good if they can only be obtained via the pre-order. Most are just skins and you will probably replace them with something cooler later on anyways. As for the guns, well I can see them being good at the early levels but being replaced with better guns when you level up. So in the end, the bonus pack may give you a bit of an edge to start but will be nothing more the some cool factor and some fluff.

It's not so much of me wanting the pre order packs, it's just i want to have it when it's released, and if im going to get a pre order pack might as well pick one i want right? and the weapons in the spec ops and psycho pack don't give you an edge, it's cmpletley balanced, no gun in brink is better then any other gun, one gun may shoot faster but another does more damage, and the spec ops pack gives you some clothing, a tattoo, and an attachment.

It is very odd that i cannot pre-order in Canada, now i need to be at the stores on day one or im going to have to wait a week or so just to find a copy not sold.

It's so weird, you'd think they would have sorted out the pre-orders ages ago. I mean, we're neighbours with the US and yet the canadian versions of the US companies (Wal-mart canada, amazon.ca) still aren't offering proper pre-order bonuses..

Nee!

Win.

But what I REALLY wanted to say is that I am also Canadian, and have been ravenous to get my hands on the Psycho pre-order pack (that Caeser has been calling my name since I saw what the pre-order bonuses were). I have obviously not checked out walmart (because they only do Spec Ops), and have been looking at Amazon instead.
On that front, you CAN pre-order Brink in Canada (from Amazon.ca), but it doesn't come with the Psycho bonus!!!
:banghead: :flame: :swear:

Fortunately, the Canadian dollar is very strong compared to the US dollar right now, so I can order it from Amazon.com (the American one), and essentially get $2.89 off of my $60 purchase

Maybe that will partially cover the cost of shipping...

So I'd like to continue this angry tirade against the lack of distribution in Canada by bringing in some numbers. According to this site's (Brink main site) pre-order list, Canada is one of only four countries that doesn't have retailers selling Brink pre-order packs... along with Russia, Belgium, and the Netherlands :dead:

Now... take this with the other fact that one of the countries that DO have pre-order retailers is Norway. After doing two minutes of googling, I found out that Norway had a population of about 5 million in 2009, and a largest city of a bit over 500k. Canada, in comparison, has a population of 33 million and our largest city of Toronto has something like 2.4 million...

So I honestly have to ask...

WTF IS THEIR REASONING FOR NOT RELEASING BRINK PRE-ORDER PACKS THROUGH SOME CANADIAN RETAILERS?!?!?!?!

Like I said before, it's not too bad with the strong Canadian dollar, but now it's more a matter of national pride. It stings when a country with six times smaller population than you gets something you do not.

Bit of a discount at Direct 2 Drive, (may be limited time) but I prefer to support steam since the whole service offers so much more than D2D. All my friends and clanmates are on Steam plus I had a poor experience w/ D2D on their pre-loading of BLOPS.

[Edit: that's the Psycho pack @ D2D]

I'm Canadian aswell and in the same boat. My town only has Gamestop and Walmart. I really wanted the pyscho pack so I emailed Amazon.ca and they said they would not get the pre-order bonus and even with the strong dollar, I'm not willing to add the shipping and handeling just to get a cool looking mask and gun from the U.S. site AND I want the game on the day of release. So I'm hoping the pre-order is just a DLC card inside the case so that when I go down to walmart on May 10th I will get the Spec-ops with the game, and if not... I guess I don't get any DLC :stare:

I'm Canadian here, and yes I've pre-ordered, however, not from Walmart. I got the Psycho pack from D2D.

I have to ask though. Why not just use Steam? It's open for Canadians right now, has been for weeks, and it gives the same pre-order pack as Walmart does.

If you want the actual retail copy, I suppose I understand. It seems like you're more interested in the spec-ops pack though, and again, that can be received by going via Steam for pre-order.

Both Direct2Drive and Steam are international sellers, not just USA. They provide to most of the "western" world.
