Preorder Showdown

Post » Sat Aug 21, 2010 5:27 pm

We all know Fallout New Vegas is up for Preorder, but which pack are you getting?
First up from Gamestop,
The Classic Pack
* Armored Vault 13 Suit - Extensively patched up and dotted with piecemeal armor, this outfit is an homage to the classic ending of the original Fallout.
* Vault 13 Canteen - This handy device is useful for staving off dehydration and providing a small amount of healing in the Mojave Wasteland.
* Weathered 10mm Pistol - A well-worn 10mm pistol that packs an extra punch despite its modest size.
* 5 Stimpaks - Food and water are good for long-term healing, but when the fighting is fierce, Stimpaks help keep Wastelanders upright.

Lets see what Amazon.com is packing,
The Tribal Pack
* Tribal Raiding Armor - Pieced together from scraps of armor, this outfit provides protection without impacting mobility.
* Broad Machete - This heavy-bladed melee weapon does high damage against limbs and can quickly deal out a flurry of attacks.
* 5 Bleak Venom doses - Useful on any Melee Weapon, Bleak Venom makes short of work of most living targets.
* 10 Throwing Spears - If you would like to silently pin an enemy's head to a wall, Throwing Spears are the way to do it.

Can Steam and Walmart keep up? Lets see,
The Caravan Pack
* Lightweight Leather Armor - This hand-modified suit of leather armor reduces its overall weight without impacting its ability to protect.
* Sturdy Caravan Shotgun - Despite its rough appearance, this Caravan Shotgun will reliably fire 20 gauge shells until the Brahmin come home.
* 4 Repair Kits - Useful for repairing any outfit or weapon, Repair Kits are a valuable tool for any caravaner.
* Binoculars – The Mojave Wasteland is a dangerous place, but with these trusty Binoculars you'll be able to spot trouble coming.

Is Best Buy a solid contender?
The Mercenary Pack
* Lightweight Metal Armor - Modified for long-range travel, this Metal Armor sacrifices some protection for mobility and overall weight.
* Mercenary's Grenade Rifle - Though similar to other 40mm Grenade Rifles in the Mojave Wasteland, this model has a faster reload cycle.
* 3 Super Stimpaks - When you absolutely, positively, need to keep your blood inside your body, Super Stimpaks fix you up in no time.
* 3 Doctors Bags - Mercenaries and broken limbs go together like Iguana-on-a-Stick and Nuka Cola. Thankfully, these Doctors Bags take a bit of sting out of the inevitable crushed skull.

Well there you have em' guys, reply with a comment to which pack you want or are getting. Thanks for all your support you guys are a stellar community! :celebration:

Are you happy with getting the Tribal pack or would you have rather gotten one of the other Pre-order packs if the savings wasn't a factor?

I ordered from gamestop,so I'm getting the classic pack. I do find it interesting that only two of the packs seem to have something that you might find useful for most of the game. I am happy with the classic pack, since the caravan's Binoculars can be replaced with any gun scope really.

I'm not getting either since I'll be renting F:NV. Gamefly FTW. Plus, I'm like a teenager so I don't have the funds to keep on purchasing games.

I'm getting the classic from gamestop, but only because it's convenient. I usually pre-order from gamestop. If Amazon had the caravan pack or the mercenary pack I'd order from there instead.

I went to preorder my copy when they first started doing it. I went for the classic pack because i like the 10mm pistol and the canteen but im tempted to change to the mercenary pack however today when i was studying the back of the case i noticed that they went ahead and put a screen shot of the graphical stand in(s) of the super mutants not the updated ones. Not really a problem at all though. excuse my typing as i am very tired

Definately want the caravan pack, but want to see if they offer the collector's edition. If they don't, I'll still buy it and just enjoy the cash I saved.

I plan to get them all from Ebay but the one I'm getting with my preorder will be the Mercenary Pack.

Caravan. I love leather armor, and the binoculars will be very useful until I get my beloved sniper rifle.

Will just make my own versions of all the starting packs, as to avoid the problem of trying to choose. I'm not bad in Photoshop and whatever unique stuff there is is just a retexture basically so that won't be a problem. Maybe I'll even make a mod that lets you choose your loadout from various custom ones at the start of the game, and maybe an option for it to randomly select one.

Classic Pack (PS3), but only because i preordered it before i even heard about the extra stuff. If i were to choose, i would want both classic and caravan though. I'm a shotty/pistol player. Plus, i like the submachine guns, but there's no pack for that.

Edit: There's nothing like watching your foe dance for you while bullets riddle his body.

Caravan for me, have nice leather armor and shotty at the beginning, and binoculars and repairs is also a plus. It has the most wasteland feel.

You can, like, get a job...

I'm a teenager and i have plenty of funds.

And on topic, I'm getting the Steam pack because it's the easiest to get. I figure what the heck, not really anything in the other packs that i won't be able to get soon enough or replace with something else.

they keep saying "THE WEAPONZ R EXCLUSIVE" i hope that means that they just have special bonuses like faster reload time and better durability. i know most of the stuff will be in the game anyways. but im pretty sure i read somewhere that the weathered 10 mm pistol might be completely exclusive and only available through pre-order? anyone kno if the regular old 10 mm is the game?

Basically this. I'm excited that even though I order before its announcement, it still gets tacked onto my pre-order of F:NV collectors edition. CHRISTMAS HAS COME EARLY MOMMA :fallout:

Aye, and it's ignoring those of us who have the no choice of (insert sarcasm here) let me see, Steam, Steam, Steam or you guessed it Steam, for their choice ??? of pre-order packs, disregarding whether or not they want an actual physical copy of it on the PC. Console wise it's even worse with hrm currently standard edition, or overpriced collectors edition both of which exclude the pre-order packs.
