Apparently, someone pre-ordered Fallout 4 with 2000+ bottlecaps, and Bethesda actually let him do it.

Reddit seems to think the guy is kinda dikeish but they don't go into detail about why.

Yes I posted about this earlier :)

No it was probably a fan, however they used it for marketing obviously enough.

Hi was, he sent 2000 botlecaps, posted various places around it and the story got viral.

It was kind of an blackmail, on the other hand just the cost of sending it cost more than the game making it pretty much an one off for his 15 minutes of fame.

Good on them, though I imagine they won't do this for every person.

Why should anyone else do it? 2000 bottlecaps are more expansive than the game... It's way cheaper to buy the game with normal money.

I am not entirely sure that was the point.
I feel it had to do more with the humor and lore. I mean I can name a few times I've spent more money on a funny gag item than it was actually worth.

The bottlecap thing was just a fun thing to do and Bethesda enjoyed it so why not give him a free copy?

That wasn't what I mean. I just don't think 'every person' would have enough bottle caps for this action. So it's not like 'every person' now starts to buy the game with bottle caps...

Since he was the first to do it, he gets the cake. Anyone else that does it after, probably won't get anything. Wish I had thought of it. What an idea. Saw it on Imgur the day he sent it out. I had hoped they'd respond positively. Kudos to that guy. (I couldn't drink that much beer.)
